Every member of the Idaho State University campus community, including students, who (1) may be experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, who (2) had close contact with an individual who has COVID-19, or who (3) test positive for COVID-19, should complete the online self-reporting form. Reporting these situations will greatly help the University to manage COVID-19 illnesses on our campus. Your information will be kept confidential.
Complete the online self-reporting form in any of these situations:
- You are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms
- You had close contact with an individual who has COVID-19
- You test positive for COVID-19

Idaho State University health professions students have formed a new club, the Interprofessional Health Disciplines Student Association (IHDSA). Any ISU student studying a health care related field is welcome to join the IHDSA. The club currently has student representatives from pharmacy, nursing, pre-med, respiratory therapy, childhood development and special education, health care administration, sports medicine and health sciences. A university is a place where competing ideas are expressed and debated. While you are at Idaho State, you will likely hear controversial speakers on campus and challenging statements in your classes. Exposure to ideas or beliefs that may be different from your own is part of the learning and growth that are the essence of the college experience.
The First Amendment of the United States Constitution prohibits the government from making laws that abridge the freedom of speech. State universities like ISU are government entities and therefore may not restrict the legally-protected speech of students, faculty, staff, or others.
The related concept of academic freedom gives faculty members the freedom to introduce a variety of topics and viewpoints in the classroom, including controversial material. Counseling and Testing Services: Counseling and Testing offers free counseling and biofeedback services for all ISU students. Call us at 208-282-2130 to schedule an appointment. Join them online on Tuesdays from 12:15 to 12:45 for Virtual Wellness! Each week will feature a different topic to help you build resiliency and learn strategies for managing college and life.
Strong Families, Strong Students: Idaho families are now able to apply for federal coronavirus relief funds to assist with their children’s education on the State Board of Education’s Strong Families, Strong Students website.
Each eligible family can receive $1,500 per school age student, up to a maximum award of $3,500 per family. The funds can be used to make purchases on the Strong Families, Strong Students online marketplace for such things as computer hardware, software, and other devices including adaptive learning technology, internet connectivity, instructional materials, and fees for courses, tutoring services, educational services and therapies, and licensed daycare during work hours. Enrollment is open until Dec. 8. Awards will be issued first on economic need and then on a first come, first serve basis. Questions can directed to [email protected].
Navigating Diversity with Krystoff Kissoon on KISU-FM Radio: In the Oct. 27, 7 p.m. episode, host Krystoff Kissoon is joined by ISU freshman, Emma Watts, to discuss the book Mind Matters which she co-authored in 2020. Mind Matters is a comprehensive mental health guide for students, teachers, counselors and all academic professionals amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and is available for free at mindmattersbook.org.
