MARCH 8TH IS INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY
| |
On this day, stop to celebrate and support all women's social, economic, cultural and political achievements, diversity and empowerment around the world. Respect them and hold them high, as they continue to make the world a better place with their discoveries, accomplishments and contributions.
In a month where we are celebrating women, ROCCREW would like to take time to honor this exemplary woman. During the many seasons our team embarked upon the water, Debra Iler, of Special Tees in Geneseo, had us "rowing ready" with access to the best sporting apparel that showcased our team spirit in style. We are deeply saddened to learn of Debra's passing on December 20, 2023. Debra was a role model for many through her dedication to her family and friends, her work and her participation in the community. We appreciate how Debra went out of her way to make ordering operations run smoothly, implement our new logo change, and was always available for questions or concerns. Debra's work helped to promote our team in the rowing community. We will be forever grateful to Debra, and we will think of her often when wearing our ROCCREW gear with pride.
WE'RE ROCKING STEADY WITH OUR WINTER WORKOUTS
Winter training for rowers is like a science. Perseverance, staying steady, keep up the momentum and carrying on, in order to be ready for the upcoming spring season are key. (Pictured above is our Taste of Rowing (TOR) Event which was a huge success held at the Pittsford Indoor Rowing Center (PIRC), on February 24th.)
The second session of rowing in the tanks at PIRC 2800 Clover Street, Pittsford, NY 14534, held on Saturdays 10:15-11:30am, has already begun and is only available for our experienced rowers.
In addition, the second session of our winter workouts with erg and strength training at Genesee Waterways Center (GWC) 149 Elmwood Avenue, Rochester, NY 14611, held on Tuesday nights, 5:45-7:00pm, has already begun ($60 for six weeks), however, all interested are welcome to drop-in to the GWC. Drop-in rate is $12 per class cash or check, PayPal or by grant, form can be found here: grant application.
For those who attended the TOR session, you will need to participate in a Learn to Row (LTR) session to be held in April-May, before rowing in the tanks or on the river. There will be more information to come on this special offering.
