SPRING 2025

Our Mission: ROCCREW is committed to serving the physical and emotional needs of all cancer survivors. Through our shared rowing experience, we find a means to maintain wellness for our bodies, and courage and determination for our spirit.

We find healing on the water through the power of our commitment, and we hope to provide inspiration to all of those who face the challenges of cancer.

We are supporting people who have faced cancer or are currently under treatment by providing physical conditioning, rehabilitation, education, and camaraderie.

Welcome to the Spring Season of ROCCREW Rowing Over Cancer! New season, new adventures! Thank you for your patience as we transition from an absolutely amazing newsletter editor- Patty Keane- to a newbie who is just trying to stay afloat. (get it....stay afloat! Stay tuned for more bad humor!)

Mark your calendars:

Some important dates are coming sooner than you think!

April 26th- 10:45 a.m. Taste of Rowing at PIRC (Pittsford Indoor Rowing Center)

May 10th- Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester (BCCR) Pink and Teal Event

(we encourage our members to support this event. We will also have a table to be sure people are aware of us and the opportunities we have for rowing, recovery, and camaraderie!)

May 24th- Pittsford Regatta (we have at least one boat participating!!!)

June 10th- start of Summer Rowing Session

August 5th- start of Fall Rowing Session

August 17th- our annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser at Lima Country Club

September 30th- start of Fall Optional Session

October 16-19th- Head of the Charles Regatta

Interested in Regattas this year?

In addition to the Pittsford Regatta scheduled for May 24th, we have the opportunity to join some other events. According to our Regatta chairperson Michele Bessette, summer races are all considered sprints. If you were able to do the 5K while ergging this winter, a sprint would be about 1/5 of your total time. Not bad! Upcoming opportunites include:

June TBD- Baker/O'Neill Memorial- Genesee Rowing Club (GRC)

July 6th- The Westside Invitational, Buffalo NY

October 11th- Head of the Genesee (Fall racing so not a sprint)

October 16th- 19th- Head of the Charles, Boston, MA (we are already registered for this event)

Stay tuned for more information coming your way about these opportunities.
