Hi, bookish wonders!

We can finally share more information with you about our new location and what comes next!!! Keep reading to find out where we're going...

We have secured a twenty year lease in the Atwood neighborhood! This lease, options to renew for another twenty years after that, gives us substantially more stability than Room has ever had given the constant shift of downtown development. We could not be more excited to dig into this new space, make it our own, and be here for decades to come.

It'll be a brand new space with the same bookish nerds behind the curation and vision of Room and we will continue to actively nourish a queer-ecstatic anti-racist intersectional feminist space.
Moving timeline

April 1st The build out begins! We have to turn a space into a bookstore which, turns out, takes a whole lot of time and ideas. We can't wait!

May to June We move the store!

June onward We operate only out of the new store on Atwood Avenue (fingers crossed)

We will continue filling orders through the move. During the week of the move (we will update you when we have a hard date) we will ask you to, please, continue ordering and to expect a day or two delay as our workforce will be split between handling orders and moving the store.

Our new location is
2717 Atwood Avenue

This is a one-story accessible building where Threshold has been, across from Victory Cafe and right between Stalzy's and Daisy (hey new neighbors!).

We will be surrounded by free street parking, one block from the bike path, on the #7 bus line. After COVID, we look forward to hosting larger events and having easy parking to accommodate larger crowds (once COVID is over, of course).

The space is 4300 square feet! We will continue selling both used and new books and can't wait to build nooks for you all to read in.

There is ample natural light with windows in almost every room and multiple skylights!
Can you imagine it?

It's summer, finally, and warm. You ride your bike to the new Room location to pick up a new book and then you bike to Olbrich to read in the shade of something beautiful --

Or you've had a hard day so you take off work early, walk to Chocolate Shoppe for a double scoop in a waffle cone and stop by to see us for the latest book in the trilogy you love --
Or you realize it's PAST time for a Date Night (with yourself or with your partner(s)) so you come by Room to each get a book while you wait for your carry out order from Stalzy's or Ahan to be ready --

Or! you dropped your bike off for a tune-up at Revolution, you're fresh out of your snazzy cut with Alice at Midwest Beauty House, and you and your qt(s) are ready to waltz into the best poetry reading in town ---
Or! You, your pup and your kids just picked out the perfect new dog toy at Bad Dog Frida, you snagged milkshakes at Monty's Blue Plate and want a lovely dog-friendly place to hang out and talk about comics --

OR! You forgot it's your friend's birthday so you run down to Atwood to grab a brand new book, journal, and card from us and then head down to Table Wine, Gail Ambrosius, and get a gift card from the women-owned Wayward Tattoo shop, too!

The possibilities are endless and delightful.

We adore the small businesses that are enlivening this east side corridor and are so excited to join them.
