The Maresh Vineyard is the Clos de Beze Grand Cru of Willamette Valley. Planted by Jim Maresh's grandparents in 1970, it is one of the oldest Pinot Noir vineyards in the United States at 54 years of age. Farmed organically from day one, these old, low-yielding vines produce a Pinot Noir elixir that will thrill your senses.

2018 Arterberry Maresh 'Maresh Vineyard' Dundee Hills Pinot Noir

“The 2018 Pinot Noir Maresh Vineyard is an incredible wine. It opens slowly to an arresting perfume of dusty earth, dried rose petals, tea leaves, licorice and amaro with a wealth of bright red berry fruit at the core. The palate is elegant, supple and juicy, with an expansive fan of layered, spicy flavors and a very long finish. It's hard to resist now, but it will have more to offer with time in bottle."

"Vivid magenta. A complex, highly perfumed bouquet evokes red and blue fruit preserves, incense and potpourri, along with a building Asian spice nuance and a hint of savory herbs. Concentrated yet lithe in character, offering palate-staining Chambord, boysenberry, spicecake and floral pastille flavors sharpened by an undercurrent of smoky minerality. Finishes sweet, seamless and impressively long, with repeating florality and discreet, well-knit tannins. Drink 2022-2031.
Third-generation grower and winemaker Jim Maresh continues to produce outstanding wines, both Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays, as this year proved yet again. His “basic” Dundee Hills bottling is reliably one of the best entry-level Pinot Noirs in the US, and while the bulk of his work is focused on his family’s 124-acre (and growing) estate vineyard in the heart of the Dundee Hills, he is also doing superb work with fruit from the highly esteemed Weber vineyard, which lies just down the road. Maresh is quite keen on his 2018s, which he says have the solid structure that he desires in Pinot Noir. He told me that the 2019s don’t lack for solid bones, either, but the earlier vintage has a bit more of the power he looks to achieve." -JR (2/2022)

2021 Arterberry Maresh 'Old Vines'
Dundee Hills Pinot Noir

“The 2021 Pinot Noir Old Vines comes from the Maresh Vineyard, from vines that were planted in 1970, and has a singular expression with detailed, spicy accents reminiscent of bitters or amaro. "You only get those high-toned essences if you pick al dente," winemaker Jim Maresh explains. "It's easy to volatilize all that away." The Old Vines has a medium ruby color and arresting aromas of orange bitters, mossy bark and tobacco leaves complementing a deep core of pomegranate, rhubarb and cranberry. The light-bodied palate offers remarkably pure, detailed flavors. It has velvety tannins, seamless freshness and a very long finish with a flourish of spicy accents. 2021 Arterberry Maresh Tan Fruit 'Cuvee' Chardonnay
Willamette Valley, Oregon

"The 2021 Chardonnay Cuvée Tan Fruit comes from Dijon vines in the Maresh Vineyard, planted on a south-facing slope in 1991, plus a number of other sources around Willamette Valley. Bottled a few months earlier than the other Tan Fruit Chardonnays, its savory aromas explode from the glass: a core of peachy fruit is streaked with touches of candle smoke, matchstick, pie crust and floral tones. Medium-bodied, seamless and satiny, it flows effortlessly through the mouth with both depth of flavor and freshness. It has a pleasing touch of grip to anchor the long finish and feels like it has more to give as it unwinds in bottle over the next several years. Around 1,000 cases were made. 2021 Arterberry Maresh Tan Fruit Oak Grove Vineyard Chardonnay

"The 2021 Chardonnay Oak Grove Vineyard, from vines situated on sedimentary soil, is energetic and mineral-driven this vintage. Barrel fermented and finished in stainless steel, it opens with streaks of matchstick that give way to a core of red apples, yogurt, pie spice and lemon peel. The light-bodied palate has a silky texture and is buzzing with bright acidity and flinty nuance. It has a concentrated core of ripe citrus and a very long, mineral-driven finish.
