Rp Daily Grind coffee shop featured at state meeting
Students tell board members and school officials about RPHS coffee shop
Last weekend, school board members and school leaders from across the state learned about the Rp Daily Grind, a coffee shop operated by students and located in the new library media center at Ray-Pec High School.

Several students in Tina Fultz's Dual Credit Accounting Class shared information about the Rp Daily Grind as part of a Student Showcase at the Missouri School Boards' Association annual conference, Oct. 5-8, in Osage Beach, Mo.

The Student Showcase was an opportunity for school districts and students to show off innovative programs.

Students who attended the MSBA conference are pictured above. From left: Mohson Choudhry  (12), Joshua Putney (11), Karla English (12) and Daniel Wickham (12). Two other Dual Credit Accounting students were unable to attend the conference: Jacob Bossert (12) and Tyler Lanning (12).

The six students in the Dual Credit Accounting class manage and run the coffee shop.  These students order supplies, maintain inventory, and conduct the everyday operation of the business. At the end of every month, the students complete a balance sheet and an income statement. The balance sheet information is reviewed at the end of each month to confirm that the coffee shop is financially stable.

School Board attends and presents at conference
Annual conference provides opportunities for learning and sharing
All seven members of the Ray-Pec Board of Education attended the recent Missouri School Boards' Association annual conference in Lake Osage, Mo.

The conference, which is the largest gathering of education leaders in the state, provided the opportunity to meet and network with hundreds of attendees, hear nationally recognized speakers, choose from over 100 breakout sessions, visit a trade show and attend awards banquet. The fall delegate assembly convened to adopt legislative resolutions.

Three Board members presented a session related to the District's Outstanding Board of Education award Board Member Ruth Johnson, Board Member Ryan Wescoat, and Board Vice President Kim York (pictured here) represented Ray-Pec by presenting on excellence in Teaching, Learning, and Assessment. In another breakout session, Board President Kim Bailey, Superintendent Dr. Kari Monsees, and Attorney Jessica Bernard with Guin Mundorf LLC discussed  effective methods to address and diffuse difficult situations that can be presented by district parents and employees.

The day before the MSBA conference, Board Secretary Pam Steele attended a workshop exclusively for persons serving in that role.
