The Reflexive Performance Reset Newsletter
Volume 16, November 2019
Once a month, we send you an email with what's happening behind the scenes at RPR, content from our team, your success stories, and what we're excited about.
"Without deviation from the norm, progress is not possible."
- Frank Zappa

Now that football season is drawing to a close and the school year is in full swing, we're back on the track of bringing our thoughts and ideas to you.

Inside this month's issue, we've got an article from Chris talking about stretching - what it means, what we're doing, and what we want to be doing. We've got a video series from Cal about the glutes - again, what we're doing, and what we want to be doing. We wrap it up with a few more recommendations - including two really different, and really insightful, episodes of Brett Bartholomew's podcast.

I hope you enjoy this!

What We Want vs What We Do #1: Stretching
People have really strong opinions about stretching, and we get it. At the same time, look around at your local 5k - people know what their flexibility feels like. It's meaningful for them.

In this article Chris takes a look at what we're doing when we stretch, another approach to what "tightness" is, and how we might be able to help people see themselves differently.

There's nothing right or wrong with stretching - but it's important to know why you're doing what you're doing.

Optimize Your Facility!

A few months ago, we introduced RPR Sticks to the world. We sold out in less than three months. The restock came in last week!

Now, we're introducing RPR Wake Up Drill Posters as well!

What We Want vs What We Do #2: Glutes
Ever have your athletes do glute bridges and they feel them in their hamstrings or lower back?

How do you fix it? Put a block between someone's knees? Have them really focus on their glutes? Just let it go for a while?

What if you could give them an incredibly simple tool that will change their game?

It sounds too good to be true, but that's the fun of it.

Three Recommendations
Troy McHugh of TM Athletic Development had shared with us over the past year one of his athletes returns from a traumatic injury. In a (pretty freaking legit) video produced by high school class, we get a window into Gabby Martinez's return.

Over the past month, Brett Bartholomew's Art of Coaching podcast has had two episodes that were very different, but extremely interesting. Especially when you listen to them together:
The first thing that grabbed me was Brett's dexterity as an interviewer. He showcases different parts of his personality with Mike than he does with Todd. The second thing that grabbed me was that these veterans of the coaching industry come back to a similar set of principles: knowing what you believe, knowing your values, and knowing yourself. Both really solid interviews, but really interesting to hear together.
If you are putting on a coaching clinic and want RPR to be there - either as a presenter or as an additional day, shoot us an email.
