RRA: Virtually Wonderful!
A letter from our Director of Education, Jackie Kondel

Hi all,

I hope that this e-mail finds you well.

My team has been busy creating versions of our popular mini-camps that can be done at home (or any outdoor space) with your child. These lessons include instructional videos, outdoor activities, crafts and stories all relating to the day’s topic that can be done at any time. Imagine, a very special Arboretum camp in your own backyard!

Each camp experience is structured in such a way that each lesson can they be completed wherever and whenever it’s convenient for you. More than anything else, this is something fun for your child and you!

Packets of materials that go along with the lesson will be available to you for pick up at the Arboretum or, if more convenient, at your doorstep. Just let us know.

We realize that our virtual mini-camps will be different from ones held here at RRA, so we are willing to refund half the registration fee (more if you have multiple children enrolled). However, during this rather difficult time, we ask you to consider donating the difference to the Arboretum. As with all our nonprofit partners, we are facing a serious financial future here with so many programs and events cancelled. We appreciate your thoughtful and kind support, and all gifts are fully tax deductible.

Thank you for understanding as, together, we navigate these unprecedented times. I look forward to seeing all of you in person sometime in the future. The Arboretum grounds are currently open daily from 1pm to 7pm. The daffodils are in full bloom and the grounds look beautiful. It’s a wonderful place right now to get out and enjoy nature. Be safe and well.

Warmly,
P.S. the generosity of our Arboretum supporters continues to fill me with joy and humility. Today, one of our camp families not only donated the refunded half of the camp registration fee, but also made an additional $200 gift. On behalf of all my colleagues, we are speechless with gratitude.

Birds prefer habitats that provide their three basic needs: food, shelter, and water. The more we provide these needs, the wider variety and greater number of birds we can attract. Join us on Zoom as we discuss plant and landscaping choices that will not only hold seasonal interest for us; but provide the essential qualities that birds are looking for in their habitat. Registration is required. Please click the title for more information and to register.
