This Sunday in Worship -- October 18, 2020

THE 20TH SUNDAY
AFTER PENTECOST

Sunday, October 18 Morning Worship Zoom Service

Welcome to the pulpit Sunday, October 18, 2020,
Reverend Katherine Cratin.

Her sermon, title, "Be Still," is based upon
the gospel of Mark 4:35-41.

Mark 5: 35-41 On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, "Let us go across to the other side."  And leaving the crowd behind, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. Other boats were with him.  A great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that the boat was already being swamped.  But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke him up and said to him, "Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?"  He woke up and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, "Peace! Be still!" Then the wind ceased, and there was a dead calm. He said to them, "Why are you afraid? Have you still no faith?"  And they were filled with great awe and said to one another, "Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?"

The Order of Worship for This Sunday

Call to Worship (from Psalms 104 and 107)

I will bless you, God! You fill the world with awe: You dress yourself in light, rich, majestic light. You pitched the sky like a tent, built your house beyond the rain.

O give thanks to God who is good; whose steadfast love endures forever. We thank you, God, for your steadfast love, for your wonderful works to humankind. For you satisfy the thirsty, and fill the hungry with good things. Fill our hearts with wisdom that we may ponder the majesty of your loving deeds.
