The Order of Worship for This Sunday

Call to Worship

Great is our God, and worthy of praise! God's goodness knows no limit; God's faithfulness toward us is boundless! Alleluia!

God, your majesty and glory surround each of us in our places of worship this morning. We've come together, by the power of your Holy Spirit and the tools of technology, to celebrate your presence, to offer songs of praise and worship, and to gather at your welcoming table. We've come to rejoice in your mighty acts, and to retell the story of your goodness throughout history and in our own lives.

Move among us as we worship together; may your Spirit guide and inspire our thoughts and actions as we spend this time in your presence. In the name of our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Sunday's Scripture Reading

Philippians 1:21-30 (New Revised Standard Version)

21 For to me, living is Christ and dying is gain. 22 If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me; and I do not know which I prefer. 23 I am hard pressed between the two: my desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better; 24 but to remain in the flesh is more necessary for you. 25 Since I am convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with all of you for your progress and joy in faith, 26 so that I may share abundantly in your boasting in Christ Jesus when I come to you again.
27 Only, live your life in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that, whether I come and see you or am absent and hear about you, I will know that you are standing firm in one spirit, striving side by side with one mind for the faith of the gospel, 28 and are in no way intimidated by your opponents. For them this is evidence of their destruction, but of your salvation. And this is God's doing.
29 For he has graciously granted you the privilege not only of believing in Christ, but of suffering for him as well- 30 since you are having the same struggle that you saw I had and now hear that I still have.

"Shall We Pray" Small Group Study

After determining the level of interest, we will be offering a series on Prayer. The series entitled, "Shall We Pray" was written by Katherine Cratin. It is ten weeks long. The first week we will be looking at why societies all over the world have some form of prayer in their histories. Recognizing that these forms are from all types of traditions, we will study the primary methods of prayer based on the Christian experience. We will also look at things in their lives that drive people to pray.
The hope is that through the lens of prayer we can begin to get an understanding of its many benefits both for the person being prayed for and the person praying.
If you think you would be interested in this series, please send a text to (281) 728-6448 or an email to [email protected]. You also could contact the church. Once we determine the number interested we will set a day and time to begin the study. We may offer the study in the evening if that is what would work best. It will be a Z00M study. Materials will be sent out to each interested person.
