The Order of Worship for This Sunday

Call to Worship (from Psalm 147)

How good to sing praises to our God! How delightful and how fitting! He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds. He counts the stars and calls them all by name. How great is our Lord! His power is absolute! His understanding is beyond comprehension!

He covers the heavens with clouds, provides rain for the earth, and makes the grass grow in mountain pastures. He gives food to the wild animals and feeds the young ravens when they cry. He takes no pleasure in the strength of a horse or in human might. No, the Lord's delight is in those who fear him, those who put their hope in his unfailing love.

Let us give him our thankful praise today!

Scripture Reading

Ephesians 4:25-32  (New Revised Standard Version)

25 Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body. 26 "In your anger do not sin": Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 and do not give the devil a foothold. 28 Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need.

29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

DWM

FEBRUARY DISCIPLES WOMEN'S MINISTRY MEETING
Your Invitation to Fellowship, Bible Study & Service

Ladies mark your calendar for this coming  Monday, February 8, 9:30 AM, for the second DWM meeting of the year. We will come together via zoom (link below) for fellowship, Bible study and service plans..

The Bible study this month is the second in the series of the Just Women Embracing Life that examines biblical narratives, correlating them with 21st Century challenges. The theme words....hope, healing, and wholeness have been chosen to help us examine our personal journey, as we seek to embrace our neighbors with Christ-like love.

The February study is titled Blessed To Be Salt And Light: For Theirs Is The Kingdom Of Heaven. Anna Marie Blair will facilitate this study.

The scripture text is a familiar one from the gospel of Matthew. In summary, the Beatitudes reveal the surprising good news of Jesus Christ, which simultaneously reverses our expectations and fulfills our deepest needs - and helps us understand the nature of the kingdom of heaven.

Please read the text: Matthew 5:1-16 prior to the meeting.

COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Change

In an effort to streamline, simplify, and make COVID-19 vaccinations more efficient, Texas is transitioning away from having people go to their local PCP, clinic, or hospital to get their shot. Instead, vaccination "hubs" are being established across the state. You must pre-register before scheduling your vaccination time. This pre-registration gets you into their system and helps them to put you into the correct "Phase" for vaccination priority.

Here is the link to pre-register and be put on a waitlist through Austin Public Health:

Family Hospital Systems is also putting together a waitlist to receive the COVID-19 vaccine:

You may be wondering whether you are eligible now to receive your first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Most of our congregation members are in fact eligible right now, based on age and/or chronic medical condition. Many of our members have now received the first dose of the vaccine, and some have even received both. Praise be to God!
If you are a front-line healthcare worker or resident of a long-term care facility, you are eligible now to receive the vaccine, since December 14. This group is considered Phase 1A.
If you are in Phase 1B, you are also eligible to get the COVID-19 vaccine, depending on availability and the vaccine provider. Vaccine supply remains limited, but more vaccine will be delivered to providers each week. Phase 1B recipients include:
  • People 65 years of age and older
  • People 16 years of age and older with at least one chronic medical condition that puts them at increased risk for severe illness from the virus that causes COVID-19, such as but not limited to:
    • Cancer
    • Chronic kidney disease
    • COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)
    • Heart conditions, such as heart failure, coronary artery disease or cardiomyopathies
    • Solid organ transplantation
    • Obesity and severe obesity (body mass index of 30 kg/m2 or higher)
    • Pregnancy
    • Sickle cell disease
    • Type 2 diabetes mellitus
