The Order of Worship for This Sunday

Call to Worship (from Psalm 19)

The heavens are telling the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims his handiwork. We gather to praise him today! The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the commandment of the Lord is clear, enlightening the eyes; the ordinances of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey, and drippings of the honeycomb.

Let the words of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts be acceptable to you, O Lord, our rock and our redeemer. We come to you with adoration and thanksgiving in our hearts on this glorious Sabbath morning!

Scripture Reading

John 2:13-22  (New Revised Standard Version)

The Passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. In the temple he found people selling cattle, sheep, and doves, and the money changers seated at their tables.

Making a whip of cords, he drove all of them out of the temple, both the sheep and the cattle. He also poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. He told those who were selling the doves, "Take these things out of here! Stop making my Father's house a marketplace!"

His disciples remembered that it was written, "Zeal for your house will consume me." The Jews then said to him, "What sign can you show us for doing this?"

Jesus answered them, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up." The Jews then said, "This temple has been under construction for forty-six years, and will you raise it up in three days?" But he was speaking of the temple of his body.

After he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this; and they believed the scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken.

Hopewell "Student Incentive" Gift Cards

Continuing our focus on our neighborhood schools children, we are seeking your support once again to help fund gift cards to be used as student incentives by the principals and counselors at Hopewell Middle School.

To "jolt" your memory, we donate a $5 gift card to Hopewell Middle School and they, in turn, let the students earn the card with good behavior and improvement. This incentive program works very well, so we are asking you to donate as many $5's as you feel you can. We will take the donations, buy the gift cards, and deliver them to the principal. If you are so moved, please make your checks out to RRCC and write "gift cards" in the memo line. Voilà, you have helped a student in his or her success! Feels good, doesn't it?

Please submit your offering indicating "Hopewell" or "gift card"  on Sunday, 3/7 or 3/14. Thank you for your support in this project serving our mission, "Embracing Our Neighborhoods with Christ-Like Love!"
