Rising Star Academy Facility Upgrades

"Delay is preferable to error."  -Thomas Jefferson

Our MSA survey results revealed the top priority for parents, staff and students was safety.  Alhamdulillah, with the support of the RSA and NHIEC communities, we've been able to address this issue, and not in a passing manner.  All facility upgrades are being done up to Union City zoning and facility regulations in order to enhance building integrity.

Upgrade Highlights
  • Addition of a new media room/computer lab equipped with internet servers and T-1 towers.
  • Enhanced wireless and internet wiring in all classrooms  in all floors.
  • Central AC into the upgraded classrooms which include: media room, science lab, new classroom next to science lab, guidance counselor office, two expanded classrooms underneath this section.
  • Adding new vice principal's office
  • Expanding Room 12 and closing the walls and adding a new door.
  • Adding a handicapped bathroom next to room 12
  • Addition of a teachers' small lounge in replacement of old kitchen
  • Deleting old staircases in the 3rd floor and adding two new staircases up to code.
  • Adding an external staircase that goes from the 3rd floor all the way to the parking lot.
  • Adding a full sprinkler system and upgrading fire alarm wiring/ panel in all floors.
  • Adding the elevator openings in 3rd floor and 4th floor.
  • Other minor additions and changes to enhance the learning setting in the 3rd/4th floor.
  • Remodeling and renovating girls and boys bathrooms in lower level.

Building Our Professional Learning Community

At RSA, we are continuously looking for opportunities to grow.  In our first week back, we've shared information on school security, improving school procedures and mapping our way to MSA accreditation success, inshallah!

4 Tips to Start the Year Off Right...

In an effort to create life-long learners, let's begin the school year off right with these helpful tips:
  1. Have a consistent sleep routine.
School is less than a week away and sleep is an important component of your child's success!  Schedules and sleep habits are often thrown out the window during summer, but now is the time to get everyone back into a consistent
    sleep routine.
  2. Limit the technology intake.  Summer can be a very lax time, and it's easy for a child/teen to slip into the habit of spending hours on their games. Please begin cutting down on this.  Let's encourage our children to consume less and participate more!
  3. Participate in your child's class!
While teens may not like this much, elementary students love it when their mom or dad show up to their classroom.  Ask how you can become involved!
  4. Emphasize organization.  Part of being successful in and outside of the classroom depends on our ability to manage our belongings and time!
