Dear RSU 21 Families,

This week we had a hold-in-place for just over an hour after our district and many across the state received an emailed threat. We took immediate action as we consulted with public safety officials to assure everyone's safety.

Please be assured that even though law enforcement believed the threat not to be credible, we always take appropriate steps to make sure that everyone is safe. Our thanks go out to our local law enforcement agencies who collaborated with our district to make sure we were safe. For any students or staff who have been feeling uneasy in light of this incident--or for any reason--our capable, dedicated school counselors are always available for our school community.

Winter break is almost here...a short 4-day school week next week before we break until the New Year! This is a timely reminder to check our snow day plan for the winter months.

Be sure to check out this week's video spotlighting Sea Road School...have a great weekend!

Much Love,

Terri I. Cooper, Ed.D.

This past weekend 45 players participated in the 3rd Annual Kennebunk High School Chess Tournament. The group was divided between the U800 and Open Sections. The Open field featured the toughest competition that the KHS team has ever faced.

(Jonah Tafuto of Fryeburg Academy takes on Jacob Darrah of KHS. Jacob emerged victorious here to earn a point for KHS in the Scholastic Grand Prix).

Open Results

KHS was represented by Xander Pettis, Nathaniel Scardino, Jacob Darrah, Anthony Palmeri, and Nicholas Caron. Together they earned 8 points for Kennebunk High School in the Scholastic Grand Prix, a season-long tournament to earn bragging rights in the state.

Xander Pettis, playing in his 3rd Kennebunk Open, scored a huge upset in round 1 by defeating Owen Wall, who was rated 400 points higher than Xander. Xander's win probability going into the match was 9%. Xander would go on to earn 2 points on the day and finish 13th in the Open.
