Dear RSU 21 Families & Community,

I would like to provide each of you an official welcome to the 2024-2025 school year in Regional School Unit 21! I hope that you had an opportunity to relax, renew and recharge over the summer break.

RSU 21 is an absolutely amazing place to be. If you are new to the district, welcome to a progressive and supportive environment whereby every student has an opportunity to excel. If you are returning, we are anxious to see you again next week to reconnect.

As Superintendent, there is no better feeling than the start of a new school year. We are all part of the RSU 21 family and share in the excitement and anticipation that comes with the start of a new beginning. District-wide, we want to make sure that we provide a rigorous and equitable educational experience to all students. We know that teaching and learning will be a top priority for the 2024-2025 school year. With our dedicated and committed staff, we are ready to put our best efforts forward and provide a well-rounded experience for all students. We can provide the best opportunities for students when we have the support of our families and community members.

On August 26, we had an amazing time celebrating and training our RSU 21 staff in our welcome-back-symposium. We had a fabulous time reconnecting, laughing, learning and building relationships. Please see the pictures below captured by our Communication Specialist, Matt Shinberg.

I look forward to building stronger relationships and partnerships this year in support of our students, staff and community.

Much love,

Terri Cooper

Symposium 2024 Recap

It was great seeing everyone from across the district during Monday's annual Symposium!

We had two keynote speakers and sixteen breakout session presenters (including several RSU 21 staff) to provide a wide array of discussion topics.

THANK YOU to all the staff who helped put the Symposium together. It was a coordinated team effort.

Please make sure to fill out the Symposium Evaluation! We use your feedback to improve the event every year.

THANK YOU, Kennebunk Light and Power!

On Tuesday, a crew from the Kennebunk Light and Power District (KLP) helped our maintenance staff raise a new light pole at MSK.

The crew, who donated their time, had the proper equipment and training to do the job safely and quickly.

Thank you, KLP!

Safety-Care Training

Several teachers attended their Safety-Care recertification training at KES on Wednesday.

Safety-Care is a competency-based crisis prevention intervention training program for professional staff who work with individuals who have the potential for dangerous behavior.

Community Resources

In a moment of crisis, you do not have to be alone.

Sometimes you need a conversation--not an internet search.

Dial 211 for the Maine Hotline

This service can help with issues like acute crisis, financial assistance, mental health, addiction treatment, health care, or heating and utilities assistance. Additionally, the National Suicide Hotline is 988.

Here is a list of more resources available to everyone throughout our district and beyond.
