Support for Veterans during COVID-19

The RSVP Veterans VIP Program is participating in the Heroes for Heroes project which connects veterans with other community members to curb the impact of social isolation brought about by COVID-19.

If you are looking to volunteer, this is a wonderful way to serve those who have served before us. Listening to their stories and assisting with resource allocation are a couple ways that volunteers will make a difference. Visit the volunteer application: HEROES.

If you are a veteran and can attest to the challenges of loneliness due to COVID-19, this program could help revive a sense of connectedness. We hope the bonds you make through the program help emphasize the importance of community. If you would like to sign up to be involved in Heroes for Heroes follow the link: HEROES.

Heroes for Heroes is an initiative of the Nevada Department of Veterans Services and Nevada Ensures Support Together (NEST) Collaborative.

Nye County RSVP Volunteers Help Seniors Get Vaccinations

RSVP gives a shoutout to Tonya Brum, RSVP Nye County Field Rep, and RSVP volunteers in Pahrump for going above and beyond to help seniors get their COVID-19 vaccinations.

In February RSVP volunteers assisted homebound and frail clients who were unable to drive with access to transportation to ensure they received their COVID-19 vaccine. According to Tonya Brum, “the system used by Immunize Nevada was extremely efficient. They had a drive-thru shot clinic set up with three lines of cars which moved through without delays or long wait-lines. The team of professionals did an exceptional job, were kind and friendly.
