For our October group service project, we will be assisting with one of the VolunteerFest projects at United Community Ministries. We will be helping with their monthly produce distribution. Volunteer tasks include stocking, organizing, and distributing fruit and vegetables. RSVP helped with this project last year and it was a fun and rewarding project! We hope to see you there! Cornerstones is in need of volunteers for the Crescent Fall Festival at the Crescent Apartments, near Lake Anne. Volunteers are needed at the annual Multicultural Health Fair. During the health fair, low-income families and individuals will have the chance to learn more about services they can receive, participate in on-site health screenings and tests and receive vaccinations. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is starting their volunteer recruitment for the 2019 tax season. VITA offers free income tax preparation and filing services to families and individuals who earned less than $54,000 in 2018.They are recruiting for front desk greeters (no tax training required) and volunteer tax preparers for basic returns.
