Support Yvette and John Hoffman's Recovery with GoFundMe
The Midway Chamber is saddened by the violence toward elected officials over the weekend. Our condolences go to the family of Representative Melissa Hortman and Mark Hortman, and we hope for a full recovery for Senator John Hoffman and Yvette Hoffman.
Senator John Hoffman has been a longtime friend to the Midway Chamber. While working at Ally People Solutions, Sen. Hoffman served on the Midway Chamber board of directors for nine years. His dedication to our community never wavered, and he has always been there for the Chamber and the Midway community. From helping coordinate our legislative panel, to playing drums for the Midway Chamber All-Star Band, his support and care has always been obvious.

Supporting the Hortman Family
Mark and Melissa Hortman along with their golden retriever Gilbert were tragically assassinated on June 14, 2025 by a man posing as a police officer at their front door at 3:30AM. In the ensuing police response to capture the assassin, their home, garage and cars were severely damaged in a hail of bullets, stun grenades and tear gas canisters. We are grateful the efforts by the police did succeed to capture the killer, Vance Boelter, in a statewide manhunt.
Mark and Melissa are survived by their children Colin and Sophie Hortman.
