Assignment Feedback
Both positive and negative feedback are vital in instruction, and yet they should be intentional. I use comments to grab attention, followed by feedback that improves student performance. It is a lot of work, and there are ways to make it doable.
  • Consider sandwiching positive and negative comments, using a grading rubric that makes expectations clear.
  • Reuse some useful feedback (save in a handy document)
  • Use the Canvas SpeedeGrader to easily provide personal feedback with either audio or video comments, screencast, or a mix of both.
  • Make use of peer reviews; encourage self-reviews as well.
  • Add common feedback to a Q&A page in Canvas.
  • BLOCK off certain days and time weekly for grading - don’t let meetings and emails interfere.
  • You should be well-rested and have plenty of time. For that, I highly recommend joining the Teaching Exchange Fridays that offers mini wellness workshops and tips. Please post your comment on our CITL Padlet.
NOTE: Faculty can now schedule Yun directly for help and support; contact him via email or message him in MS Teams.
