Dear RTFH Family,
We celebrate the Israelites’ freedom from Egypt in this week’s Torah portion as they sang at the shores of the Sea. The Passover story tells us that it took courage and risk to stand in the face of oppression.
The people of Minnesota and others across the country are showing courage as they stand up for the rights of every individual life and oppose violence and oppression. They serve as models for what we can do: hold tightly to our beliefs, speak our truth, support one another, respond with non-violence and love, and affirm that every life matters.
We remember the lives of Renee Good, Alex Pretti, and others who have lost their lives at the hands of ICE. Together, we can build a response rooted in community, connection, and justice. We stand with everyone risking their safety to uphold the dignity of every person, and we will keep working and praying for our democracy, an end to senseless violence, and a quick return to the values we cherish as Jews and
Americans.
L’shalom,
Rabbi Mark
