A Message from Rabbi

Dear RTFH Family,

Chanukah celebrations began early with a joyous Chanukah concert led by our Religious School. If you missed it, check it out online. You’ll hear all our grades share Chanukah songs, both traditional and modern, and even see our Dancing Dreidels.

Chanukah 1st candle is Sunday, December 14. As you share in the holiday at home, join our celebration of the Festival of Lights at Temple.

  • Community Candle Lighting - Join ToFHY as we light the Outdoor Chanukah Menorah as a congregation on Wednesday, December 17 at 6pm.
  • Chanukah Shabbat Services are Friday, December 19 at 6:15pm. Bring your own Chanukiyah as we will light our menorahs together during services.
  • Chanukah Shabbat Dinner sponsored by WoCo is Friday, December 19, following the service. Sign up by Friday to join in the Latke and Hot Chocolate Bars and much more.

In a world filled with too much darkness, Chanukah brings in the light we need. Share it with your family, friends, and Temple community.

Chag Sameach!

Wesley's Mitzvah Project

For my mitzvah project, I volunteered with Grassroots Grocery to sort and help deliver food to those in need. We received fruits and vegetables donated from the Hunts Point Market, sorted and boxed them, and loaded them into cars to be distributed to hundreds of families in the Bronx and Harlem. My Torah portion shows many inequalities between Joseph, a slave, and Pharaoh and his advisors. I worked to help combat inequality in today’s world by providing support for people who are trying to meet their basic needs. The people receiving this food may be struggling financially, and giving them food helps allow them to thrive.
