A Message from the Cantor

Dear RTFH Family,

This past Monday, we prayed with our hands as we sat together with our interfaith neighbors, making sandwiches for those in need at our first Interfaith MLK Day of Service. What a wonderful way to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s legacy!

We are so grateful to the First Presbyterian Church of Forest Hills for hosting and to The Forest Hills Jewish Center for organizing. We were so happy to do this with the Church-in-the-Gardens, St. Luke's Episcopal Church, and Grace Lutheran Church as well. On a cold, but beautiful day, we sat together and shared community and purpose.

"Surely God was in that place."

L’shalom,

Cantor Emily

Tristan's Mitzvah Project

For my mitzvah project, I have been volunteering with the NYC Parks Department and the Forest Park Trust. Some of the things that we have done are removing invasive plants, planting new trees, composting leaves, and helping to create clearer trails for hikers to help protect the forest floor.
