Dear RTFH Family,
For Thanksgiving, we thoughtfully prepared our meals with delicious options to enjoy. In this week’s Torah portion, Jacob sends gifts, including food, to his brother, Esau, to help repair their relationship.
Likewise, we should prepare when we come to Temple. Not just our clothes or our souls, but in making a sacred habit to prepare for our neighbors as well, by bringing a contribution for our Food Drive every time we attend services or religious school.
If each of us prepares just a can or box of unexpired,
non-perishable food to accompany us to Temple, together we will be able to provide countless meals for our neighbors’
families. What a powerful lesson for each of us and for our children as this becomes our regular behavior. Please drop your donations at the table in the upper lobby next to the Ten Commandments statue.
“Let all who are hungry come and eat,” should not be reserved just for the Seder table. It must be a living commitment that guides our community all year long.
L’shalom,
Rabbi Mark
