Dear RTFH Family,

With the world in a terrifying state of tension and conflict, we find ourselves looking back to learn from the heavy lessons of history. We continue to grapple with the power of

destruction – from the ancient plagues of our Passover Seders to the story of freedom at the Song of the Sea in Wednesday morning’s service 7th Day of Passover services to the modern devastations that touch our lives today.

Next Tuesday, April 14, is Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day). We will join for Shabbat services this Friday, April 10, at 7:00 PM, to reflect on the loss of six

million Jews and millions of other innocent civilians.

Yom HaShoah reminds us of the staggering price of that darkness. We remember not only those lost but the vibrant futures, ideas, and families that never came to be. It is a

stark reminder that while chaos is easy to ignite, the greater challenge is the persistent, difficult work of building safety and peace for all people.

We pray for leadership here at home and around the world that recognizes the sacred duty to protect the spark of the Divine within every human being.

L’shalom (for peace),

Rabbi Mark
