Dear RTFH Family,
In the 30th year of RTFH, we are celebrating Torah! This past Sunday, our entire Religious School and parents learned about our Torah scroll. Through activities and time in the sanctuary with the Rabbi, we stressed that just as every letter in the Torah is essential for it to be complete, our community is not complete without every person.
This weekend, we are privileged to have Rabbi Leah Berkowitz as our guest speaker. She will expand our Torah connection through Midrash. Join us Friday night during 7pm services and Saturday at 9am at a special Torah study. On Sunday, she’ll be sharing stories and activities with our entire Religious School from Kindergarten to 7th Grade as well as our 10th Grade Confirmation class.
Rabbi Berkowitz’s visit is a gift for the 30th anniversary from the Rabbi’s and Cantor’s Discretionary Funds.

For his Mitzvah Project, this past November 9th, Alex, Jenna and Michael Katz ran a Saving the Elephants 5K in Central Park, raising money for the elephants in Zimbabwe. I chose this race because elephants were my Grandma’s favorite animal and my family (kind of) likes to run. Thanks to the generosity of so many friends and family, we raised close to $1,000. And typical of my family, we somehow got lost on the 5k trail and ended up running a bit more. It’s all for the elephants and we laughed the whole time.

A Special Torah Study for everyone

Rabbi Leah Berkowitz will explore the power and creativity of Midrash and Torah at a dynamic Torah Study this Saturday. It will be held in person in the Garden Room. Everyone is encouraged to join us, even if you’ve never been to Torah Study before.

How does music enhance our understanding of Torah
and inspire us to live it?
We will look at musical settings for three texts: the source for all our healing prayers; the proof text for God as forgiving and compassionate as we would all aspire to be; and a text for thanksgiving and praise. Some of it we will listen to, some of it will be sung live to us, and some of it we will sing together. I hope you can join me!

Each month, a list of Temple members celebrating birthdays is posted to the RTFH Birthday Connection. Simply click on the link, create or login to your Member's Account, and fill out the online form.
