Dear RTFH Family,

Summer camp was always a central part of my upbringing. I attended and worked at several camps, including Tranquility, French Woods, and URJ Camps Kutz, Coleman, and Greene as a counselor. Camp is a place of freedom. So many of our Temple kids live “ten months for two.” Camp is their happy place. An opportunity to discover who you are and work on who you will become.

Our hearts are broken and overwhelmed by the tragedy of the floods in central Texas. The devastation at Camp Mystic especially hits close to home. There are no words of solace that adequately speak to this catastrophe. But gathering in community and joining our broken spirits with others can help us on the path to healing.

Join me in supporting the families affected by the floods. I am contributing to a fund from Shalom Austin, which will help all the people locally affected, but will also remind them that the Jewish community cares, loves, and mourns. May all those precious memories be a blessing.

L’shalom,

Rabbi Mark
