Dear RTFH Family,

One of the blessings of summer services is hearing our congregants share reflections of Torah and life in divrei Torah. This past Friday, Susan Friedman offered reflections on parashat Va’etchanan for the 5th time!

You can check out her whole d’var on our YouTube channel (this link takes you right to her words), but I want to highlight her conclusion.

Susan said, “My favorite sentence [in the Torah] is the one given in this parashah: ‘Do what is right and good in the sight of the Lord’ (Deut. 6:18). I think this sentence encompasses all of Torah. It extends beyond relations between people and includes relations between us and other species and relations between people and the environment…indeed to all aspects of life. As interpreted by Chassidic Rabbi Israel of Rizhin, incidentally named Friedman, it means ‘be a mensch.’”

I only add – “Amen and Amen. May it be so.”

To celebrate the joy of connecting with each other, Women’s Connection invites you to participate in our Temple’s long-standing tradition of sending New Year’s cards to our Temple family. Acknowledge someone's special day by sponsoring a birthday greeting! 

 Each month, a list of Temple members celebrating birthdays is posted to the RTFH Birthday Connection. Simply click on the link, create or login to your Member's Account, and fill out the online form. Women's Connection will send that person a personalized Happy Birthday greeting to everyone who donated in their honor. At only $1 per greeting, Birthday Connection is an easy way to manage a monthly mitzvah for everyone on your list!
