Everyone Deserves a Thank You!

Before                                              After

Earlier this year , we were contacted by a homeowner requesting our service s .  The homeowner was not currently working and did not have the resources to address the repairs that caused her home to be condemned . Much of the damages in the home came from people and animals she had taken in to provide shelter. Unfortunately, her big heart wound up costing her dearly, with significant damage to her home including  plumbing leaks, broken toilets, drywall holes, and missing flooring throughout the home.  The home also had a great deal of clutter from a friend's belongings left there and a non-functioning  kitchen.

After processing the homeowner's application and connecting with her, we knew this would be a complete rebuild. We usually address critical needs in homes. In this case, everything was a critical need and we were unsure if we would be able to address all the homeowner's repairs due to our budget and manpower.  RTMC's program staff knew we would need help and began reaching out to different partners. A longtime supporter of RTMC, Lance Wolin of Donohoe Construction Company, came to the rescue! Lance was able to connect us with Magnolia Plumbing, Bratti Tile & Terrazzo, Capitol Drywall Inc., Selective Demolition, Carpentry & Hardware Services, Shenandoah Coatings, and Floors, Etc. These companies donated their labor and materials to transform the home! After a few months of the hard work and dedication of all the companies and with the approval of the County, the homeowner was able to move back into her home.

RTMC would like to offer a huge thank you once again to everyone who made the transformation on this home possible. We are grateful to have such generous companies partner with us on the mission to provide safe and healthy homes to our county residents.

Corporate Partner Volunteers with RTMC!
Congressional Bank Employees
This past Wednesday (November 14th) a group of volunteers from Congressional Bank came together to work on a v eteran's home in Silver Spring, MD! Despite the cold weather, volunteers worked throughout the day completing landscaping tasks, adding  installations, replacing doors, and removing carpet. We are thankful for their partnership!

#GivingTuesday #GivingToSTAY

Thanksgiving is this Thursday and I have a lot to be thankful for. I am thankful for my family, friends, clothing, shelter, and career. I am thankful that I am  he althy. I am thankful that I wake up every mornin g and worry about simple things such as, what will I wear today or what will I cook for dinner tonight? Unfortunately , not everyone's worries are that simple. There are many individuals and families who worry about not being able to fix repairs in their home due to their age or struggling between buying their child's medicine or fixing a broken water  heater. How can we help? Let's give back. Let's allow individuals  and families to have one less thing to worry about.

#GivingTuesday is a chance for all of us to make a difference in the lives of others less fortunate than ourselves. Our gifts can help families overcome the burden of choosing between putting food on the table or repairing a leak in the roof; helps our elderly clients safely age in place; it helps our veterans feel at home again; and most importantly, it helps all of our low-income homeowners stay in their homes and live in a safe and healthy space.

Please consider either a one-time gift to RTMC on this #GivingTuesday, or even better, a recurring gift through our campaign #GivingToStay! Recurring gifts are instrumental in helping people stay in their homes in much safer and healthier conditions. You can easily set up a monthly or quarterly donation through our secure online giving platform. It has a smaller impact on your wallet each month, but a more substantial, sustaining impact for the families we serve.

Thank you all so much!
