April New Investigator Spotlight:

Hyun Kim, MD


Hyun Kim, MD, was recently selected as an RTOG Foundation New Investigator Spotlight due to his various accomplishments and ongoing efforts in the oncology community. Dr. Kim is a physician treating patients with gastrointestinal (GI) malignancies as well as the Chief of GI Oncology Service and Chief of MR Clinical Services in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Washington University St. Louis. His focus is on nonoperative and adaptive radiation therapy to improve outcomes in GI cancers, especially rectal, pancreas, gastric, and liver tumors. Dr. Kim serves as the co-leader for both lower and upper GI focus groups at Siteman Cancer Center.

May New Investigator Spotlight:

Leila Tchelebi, MD


Leila Tchelebi, MD was recently selected as an RTOG Foundation New Investigator Spotlight due to her various accomplishments and ongoing efforts in the oncology community. Dr. Tchelebi is an Assistant Professor of Radiation Medicine at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. She has an interest in both gastrointestinal (GI) oncology and radiation therapy quality. Dr. Tchelebi has developed quite a presence in the GI oncology community through her efforts growing the Penn State University Cancer Institute’s GI program during her tenure there, prior to her current career at Northwell.  She is a member of the American Radium Society (ARS) GI Committee where she has had the opportunity to collaborate on many national guidelines for the management of GI malignancies, as well authored manuscripts regarding the treatment of GI malignancies.

Welcome RTOG Foundation Communications Interns!

RTOG Foundation (RTOGF) recently selected two communications interns to help RTOGF create social media content around RTOGF clinical trials. This will be a 12-month position starting July 1, 2023 and will allow each intern a way to get more involved with the RTOGF organization and cancer research. Interns will be also attending virtual meetings with the RTOGF Communications Committee, attending RTOGF Board Meetings, and have the opportunity to attend an RTOGF Investigators Meeting as well as the NRG Oncology Summer Meeting.

#NRG2023 in Philadelphia


RTOGF Members, please register today for the #NRG2023 Summer Meeting in Philadelphia! There will be many sessions to attend to learn more about studies and efforts in the NRG Oncology and RTOG Foundation portfolios as well as opportunities to connect with other members who are attending.


This meeting will be NRG Oncology's 10th Anniversary! The meeting will be held in Philadelphia from Thursday, July 20, 2023 - Saturday, July 22, 2023. Sessions will be held in-person and available via streaming unless noted. Additionally, there will be virtual-only sessions on Monday and Tuesday, July 17-18, 2023.

NRG Oncology will also host their 10th anniversary reception during the Philadelphia meeting at the Barnes Foundation on Friday, July 21, 2023 from 6-8 PM. Transportation will be provided.

RTOGF Research at ASCO2023


Thank you to all presenters and contributors on behalf of RTOGF research at ASCO 2023! ASCO was held from June 2-6, 2023 in Chicago. RTOGF research was represented in 6 poster sessions and 1 oral abstract presentation during this year's conference. Presentations spanned several disease sites, including: prostate cancers, bladder cancers, head and neck cancers, and gynecologic cancers.
