An Interview with Dr. Haffty on New Role as ACR CMO of Radiation Oncology Research

The 2025-2026 RTOG Foundation Communications Interns, Dr. David J. Lee and Dr. Alexis Narvaez-Rojas interviewed Bruce Haffty, MD, FACR, FASTRO, on his new role as Chief Medical Officer of Radiation Oncology Research at the American College of Radiology (ACR) and his journey and experience in radiation oncology clinical research. Dr. Haffty also comments on his perspective of the future challenges and priorities of radiation oncology research.

The American College of Radiology (ACR) Commission on Radiation Oncology Education Committee is looking for new members and accepts members at any level of their career (including trainees (residents/fellows) and attending physicians. The ACR Commission on Radiation Oncology Education Committee consists of radiation oncologists, physicists, and radiation biologists. and works in conjunction with the Council of Affiliated Regional Radiation Oncology Societies (CARROS).

New Investigator Spotlight: Dr. Arya Amini

Arya Amini, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology and Chief of Thoracic Radiotherapy at City of Hope with the responsibility of leading the main center and community network in up-to-date treatment management and research in lung cancer. He has multiple leadership responsibilities at national cooperative groups and societies including the American Society of Therapeutic Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG), and American College of Radiology (ACR)...

Registration is still open for the upcoming NRG Oncology Semiannual Meeting. The meeting will be held in-person, July 16-18, 2026, in Denver, Colorado with select virtual sessions being held July 10-17, 2026.
