Like all of you, we are heartsick about the ongoing assault on Ukraine. Join Us Next Week for RU Giving Day!
Next Wednesday, March 23rd is Rutgers Giving Day, a once-a-year fundraising challenge for organizations from across the university. This year, CAWP will be participating in RU Giving Day to support our NEW Leadership® (National Education for Women’s Leadership) program, which educates college students about women’s leadership. On this day, and this day only, contributions to CAWP’s NEW Leadership® program have the chance to be amplified, as every gift on RU Giving Day makes an even greater impact thanks to special daylong challenges.

NEW Leadership® is a cornerstone program here at CAWP that educates college students about the role politics plays in their lives, introduces them to women public leaders, and encourages them to become involved in the political process. This program has launched a nationwide network of New Leadership® institutes in states around the country. It is our investment in the future of American democracy, and we invite all of you to join us on March 23rd in supporting this important program. Save the date and bookmark the link to our dedicated campaign change — help us take action for equality.

Women Leading Locally with CAWP and The Takeaway
For Women’s History Month, we’re partnering with WNYC’s The Takeaway for the series Women Leading Locally, which celebrates the women creating political change in their own communities. Catch up with the series:

A Conversation with CAWP's Director Debbie Walsh: “"It's terrific to hear directly from those women, why they're doing what they're doing, why they got involved in the first place, and what they're accomplishing."

A Conversation with Florida Representative Anna Eskamani: "What I have found to be surprising is the incredible support from the people in this state and the people in this country who are hungry for this type of representation."

Philadelphia City Councilmembers Helen Gym and Kendra Brooks: “One of the things that has been incredibly powerful is that women lead all the time, that we have been leading on issues that have been devalued and marginalized in the overwhelmingly patriarchal, money-driven political sphere.” – Philadelphia Councilmember Helen Gym.

Follow the series by subscribing to The Takeaway wherever you get your podcasts or by tuning in to the broadcast on your local NPR station.
