Rutgers University students from Newark, Camden and New Brunswick, who traveled to Washington, D.C., this week to speak with members of Congress, advocated for increased federal funding for grants that have made it possible for them to earn degrees. Among the elected officials these students met were New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez, pictured. Notably, nearly 18,000 Rutgers students statewide rely on Pell Grants to help pay their tuition, about a third of the undergraduates at the university. In the most recent completed academic year, students received more than $84.5 million in Pell Grants. More. |
