Rowland Unified Connects With Our Youngest Learners

You've Got Mail! More than 950 Kindergartners across RUSD are receiving specialized learning packages every two weeks thanks to the Kindergarten Care & Connect team.
Kindergarten and TK teachers along with departments across the District joined together to start school for our youngest learners in a whole new way. RUSD innovation was unleashed again with Kindergarten Care and Connect.

Family Engagement: The year began with family learning conferences so each teacher could get to know students and meet the family, including the caregivers who would be at home with students each day on Zoom. Monthly workshops launched last week to help families on topics such as establishing routines to support your Kindergartner and next month, strategies to support your mathematician.

You’ve Got Mail!
To engage our 4 and 5 year old students and build a first-time school connection with families, every other week Kindergartners are surprised with mail! Delivered to their homes are special engagement tools to make learning fun and they are excited to share their items over Zoom with classmates. This massive organizational effort includes the team from Administrative Services (Purchasing/Warehouse/Reprographics/Mailroom), Educational Services, Special Projects, Principals and educators from across the district, who are joining together to ignite learning and to build connections with our TK/Kindergarten students and families.

There is so much more to come! #WeAreRUSD #RowlandInnovators

Shared Stories, Shared Voices: The first package students received was their own story made into a book! Pictured above is Jellick Principal Dr. John Staumont reading and sharing student stories.
