Connections to the Future Event Nov. 6

Business and community leaders can help high school students learn how to “network” and practice their presentation skills by attending the 24th Annual “Connections to the Future” luncheon event to be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Nogales High School. This event is organized and facilitated by senior students from Nogales and Rowland High School who are enrolled in the District Career Certification Program that prepares them for college and the workforce with real-world experience in eight career industry pathways. Noble Regiment to Perform in London New Year's Parade

Nogales Noble Regiment Band students cheer as they receive the official word they have been accepted to perform at the 2020 London New Year's Day Parade (LNYDP).

Telemundo News came out to capture the excitement and interviewed students.

It was a royal affair as dignitaries and media gathered at Nogales High School for their London Invitational Event on October 25. The Executive Director and Founder of London’s New Year’s Day Parade (LNYDP) Robert Bone, with London Dignitary Duncan Sandys, the Great Grandson of Winston Churchill, (pictured left with Nogales High School Principal Yousef Nasouf and Band Director Brad Pollock) made a formal presentation to the students of the Nogales High School Noble Regiment Marching Band to inform them officially that they are one of four bands on the West Coast to be featured in this huge international parade for 2019-20. Band and color guard students from across the Rowland Unified School District in grades 8 through 12 have the opportunity to join the Noble Regiment to perform in this once-in-a lifetime experience. Rowland Unified has trained teachers and staff on bullying prevention and recognition and is proud to announce that 13 RUSD schools have been recognized as PBIS Schools – earning themselves bronze, silver and gold medal awards from the CA PBIS Coalition for their implementation of positive behavior interventions and support at their campuses during the 2017-2018 school year! PBIS is a Districtwide initiative that helps improve academics, reduces problem behavior, increases attendance, reduces bullying, and positive student educator relationships in our schools. “We are very proud of the schools for their hard work and commitment toward implementing PBIS with fidelity and creating the conditions to maximize academic and social behavioral outcomes for ALL students,” said Eleanor Purdy, District TOSA and PBIS Coach.
