This summer Rowland High School Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) students participated in the national FCCLA conference,
joining more than 7,500 students from across the country who gathered at the Georgia World Congress Center June 28 - July 2.
Students participated in one of 30 Family and Consumer Sciences related competitive events, including STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) Events and the FCCLA/LifeSmarts Knowledge Bowl. These events support foundational, leadership, and workplace skills in areas such as advocacy, culinary arts, and entrepreneurship.
This year 46 California participants earned 11 gold medals, 31 silver medals, and 4 bronze medals. The Rowland Unified School District Board of Education honored Rowland High School's Parliamentary Procedure student team (how to run a business meeting) for their silver medal achievement. The school's Environmental Ambassador Team also brought home a silver medal. These students addressed environmental issues that adversely impact human health and well-being.
