RUSD Graduate Just Awarded
Prestigious Milken Scholarship!
Fernando Rax from Nogales High School Has Just Been Awarded the $10,000 Milken Scholarship.

Rowland Unified School District just received word that after an extensive selection process, Fernando Rax from Nogales High School is one of only 11 high school graduating seniors in Los Angeles County to be the recipient of the Milken Scholarship. The Milken Scholarship Program offers scholar winners $10,000 in financial assistance, as well as lifetime access to a wide array of resources. These resources include academic and career related counseling, assistance with internships, opportunities for community service, and more.

"I am deeply honored to be named a Milken Scholar," said Rax. "Knowing that I have the support of the Milken Scholars Program will enable me to further pursue my academic and personal goals while attending Vassar College, as well as provide me with assistance after I graduate from college, such as funding to attend graduate school and various career opportunities."

Rowland Unified School District is one of the few Districts in the region that has already extended its Transitional Kindergarten program. Full day classes are offered Monday - Friday for children who turn 5 between September 5, 2021 and March 31, 2022.
Rowland Unified School District Teacher of the Year Ashley McGrath was interviewed on LA Public Radio 89.3 FM's program, "Air Talk" on Monday, June 14, about her reflection on teaching during the pandemic.
