THE TRUMPETER - April 2024
President's Message - Sue Davis
| |
“I can’t stand Donald Trump”.
(An actual quote from a thoughtful Prescott neighbor).
“How can you vote for someone who is unfaithful in marriage?”
(Another quote from a grade school friend).
We fight “groupthink” every day. How do you deal with the liberal, well-organized media narrative? Can you feel the impact of politics on your health? Sometimes, my blood pressure boils when I read/hear the untruths and persecution of Republican candidates by other Republicans. When I watch President Donald Trump being attacked repeatedly from every direction…. I’ll get back to that in a second.
The April luncheon meeting will feature a forum of candidates and incumbent officeholders running as YOUR future Yavapai County Board of Supervisors. It’s YOUR opportunity to see who aligns with YOUR values.
If you don’t know your district (I hope you do!), click below.
https://gis.yavapaiaz.gov/docs/share/Supervisor_Districts_36x48_2024.pdf
This is YOUR chance to ask the candidates difficult questions.
Don’t scroll by the link below without submitting your forum questions!

So, back to Donald Trump. You’ve encountered a person with “Trump Derangement Syndrome”.
What do you say to that? Let me help you wordsmith some intelligent, factual, and heartfelt responses…
- You’re voting to protect the sanctity of life, not to protect Planned Parenthood.
- You’re voting to secure our borders from an unsustainable human and fentanyl trafficking invasion that’s going to collapse our social services net.
- You’re voting to put/keep conservative judges appointed to the bench. (Trump appointed 200).
- You’re voting for a strong national security, law & order, energy independence, free speech, religious freedom, the 2nd amendment, school choice and merit over DEI; and against weaponized federal agencies, socialism, and the global elites.
RWOP members - I’ll leave you with this thought:
This month, we celebrate the historic emancipation of 3,000 slaves in Washington, DC
in April 1862 by the great Republican Abraham Lincoln.
Refuse the gaslighting by the odious Joe Biden:
“They’re gonna put ya’ll back in chains” or the equally disgusting “If you don’t vote for me, you ain’t black”. Don’t believe you heard this? Google it!
To that end, let’s take to heart a quote by the late John Lewis:
“Get in good trouble, necessary trouble, to help redeem the soul of America.”
| | You have 31 Weeks to make your case, 31 weeks of “necessary trouble” until we can vote for the best Republican candidates to represent Yavapai County, the State of Arizona and Donald H. Trump. Not voting is a vote for a Democrat! | |
Special Thanks
To Ken Campbell for hosting the live auction and for his extremely generous contribution to a 3-day pistol class from Gunsite!
To: Prerna O’Hara and Steve Zipperman in appreciation for winning the live auction bids for the pair of “Sheriff Joe” boxer shorts and a 3-day pistol class at Gunsite, respectively.
To: 2nd VP Marilyn Read and the Ways and Means team for the great Saturday afternoon tea and fashion show. To Cabi, French Hen, Purple Clover, and Scarlett’s for generously providing clothing for our models to parade. Everyone did a fabulous job; the models were fun and engaging, and laughter was heard throughout the room. It was a great day!

The April 16th RWOP luncheon will focus on the 12 Board of Supervisor candidates with competitive primary races. This newsletter includes their photos and bios. The deadline to turn in their signatures is April 1st.
Since the primary date has been moved up a week to July 30th, it is important that all Republican primary candidates who qualify for the ballot be able to speak to RWOP members before our July meeting. Ballots are mailed around June 30th.
May’s luncheon will feature the County Attorney, Sheriff, and School Superintendent candidates who qualify for the primary. June’s luncheon will feature four Corporation Commission candidates, three candidates for the LD1 Senate, and three candidates for the LD1 House race.

Charity of the Month - St. Vincent De Paul
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is the charity for April. Most people are familiar with and have visited the thrift stores they operate. All the proceeds they receive from the stores go to the St. Vincent de Paul Conference, which comprises several large congregations in Yavapai County.
The Conference uses those monies to provide help with shelter, rent, car insurance, utilities, food, and just about anything else a person might need.
Their latest endeavor is dental services offered through the generosity of some of our local dentists at a new clinic in the area. The demand for dental care is huge, and the waiting list is long, but there is light at the end of the tunnel for people who otherwise would probably go without these vital services.
If you attend the April luncheon, you will hear more about these and other benefits offered through the Society of St. Vincent de Paul since their inception almost 200 years ago. Please stop by the Caring for America booth for more information or ways you can help.

Yavapai Family Advocacy Center (YFAC) is a program of Prevent Child Abuse Arizona (PCA Az) serving all of Yavapai County. Last year, over 100 women who were sexually assaulted and over 400 children who were abused or neglected had the opportunity to obtain a variety of crisis services in one location, with all agencies working together in the best interest of the victim. At YFAC the victim may receive a forensic interview, a sexual exam (SANE), speak with an advocate and the DA’s office plus so much more.
RWOP is collecting items to support these individuals. All items should be new. We are asking for any of the items listed below:
- A variety of adult sizes of sweats and a Zip-up jacket
- Sports bras, underpants, and socks.
- Hard Bottom slippers that a person could wear as shoes outside.
- Toiletries (hotel size): shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste and comb.
- Small to medium stuffed animals.
- Gift cards to stores such as Amazon, Target, Fry’s, and Walmart for YFAC to purchase items as needed.
- Gift cards given to victims for gas (Fry’s) and fast-food restaurants.
- Straight Talk phone data card – can be purchased at Walmart.
Please drop off items at the April 16 RWOP luncheon meeting by the entry door.
Thank you for your generosity.

RWOP’s Tea with the Queen of Hearts was a big success thanks to our generous table Vendors, hometown Fashionistas, fearless Models, and spicy Master of Ceremonies. And there’s always a way with RWOP’s Ways and Means team. Special thanks to Chaplain Lillian Bish, Americanism’s Susan Cohen, and the beautiful RWOP Singers, without whom no gathering would be complete. You have my heart.

TAKE A LEGISLATION PEEK
A few important bills for your consideration
| |
SCR 1020 - When the budget is not finalized before the deadline, the government will continue with the previous budget plan until a new budget is approved.
PRO: Would avoid state government shut down.
CON: Would take the “pressure” off the budget process and could prolong the process by making an “allowance” for the state government not doing their job in a timely manner.
SCR 1023 - Require that election for all city, town and school districts take place on the same day as the general elections for state and federal offices.
PRO: Reduces the number of elections per year. All happens in one day.
More convenient for voters. Reduces the number of times the elections officials have to man and setup polling places. Could potentially be cost effective.
CON: Would make for a huge ballot that could overwhelm voters, create confusion. Would increase voting time and counting time. The increased amount of campaigning at the same time could be overwhelming. Would require more election personnel to count and handle the process because of the increase number of individual races and ballot propositions, etc.
HCR2032 -
PRO: Eliminates voting center in favor of precinct voting. Caps a precinct to 1000 voters.
CON: Prevents establishing on-site early voting locations
