THE TRUMPETER - July 2024
President's Message - Sue Davis
| |
Close your eyes...
Imagine a country that genuinely represents freedom and opportunity, rich in natural and creative resources, where people follow the rule of law. A powerful nation feared by its enemies and trusted by its allies, where students are taught the value of merit and respect for our country. As the late Martin Luther King Jr. so clearly stated, people are judged by the content of their character.
We stand at a precipice in 2024. Take our great country back, or watch it slip further into tribalism and religious and political persecution. There may not be a second chance! Most of you reading this are “boomers,” and you know that as imperfect as our formative years may have been, the last few years have been a leftist free-for-all.
Prepare for another summer of riots, looting, and destruction from the left. I have never seen so much gaslighting and panic from the lame-stream media as we are witnessing today.
Let me ask all of you a question.
What would you sacrifice or give up to ensure Republicans win the White House this November? Would it be sending $100.00 to the RNC? Or writing a letter to the editor of The Daily Courier? Volunteering as a poll observer down in Maricopa County? Running a Republican registration booth at the Farmers Market next to predominantly Democrat vendors? Or just talking it up with acquaintances you’re not quite sure about.
| |
Pray for our country, Donald J. Trump, and the Republicans on the Supreme Court. We are moments away from their decision on the Presidential immunity ruling. Huge implications. Just like the repeal of Roe v Wade. Our country is at its brink, and God is our only refuge and salvation.
Psalms 46:1-3 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. 2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; 3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.
RWOP members, we must hold down the fort and overcompensate to make up for the liberal domination in Flagstaff, Phoenix, and Tucson. That means each one of us must vote RED all the way down the ticket. Be bold with your neighbors, family, friends, and acquaintances now! Election day is not the time to start.
Segue to conversations of our crazy borderless border, the planeloads of illegals being shipped all over the country, our nutso governor, and the bizarre pro-Palestinian and climate change madness. Find the common ground; talk with the low propensity voters, the quiet people who believe their vote doesn’t matter.
Only the delusional think that skyrocketing prices in the last three years are “fine” and that Joe Biden did a great job in the debate with Trump!
Yes, those conversations mean YOU are involved. That’s a “good for you” kudo! You’re now an “influencer”. Remember, silence from you is power to the left.
| |
In closing, Yavapai Democrats are salivating at the chance to control our schools, hospital boards, and legislative and judicial representation. Most of us will not see 100% of our choice of Republican primary candidates make it to the general election. Commit, talk it out, and come to grips with the fact that in the history of our great nation, there has never been a Democrat better than even the worst of Republicans.
We know without a doubt that the 2024 policies of the left are systematically destroying 248 years of our great republic. It’s yours to win or lose - don’t give an inch of ground. It’s OUR watch - let’s take our country back!

Agape House is our July charity of the month. Their goal is to eliminate homelessness in our area, one family at a time. And that’s who they work with: families; whether it’s a single dad with children, a single mom with children, both parents with children or a grandparent with grandchildren.
No matter the reason for homelessness, and there are many, Agape House strives to help families get back on their feet, find a job, housing and stability. By focusing on personal wellness and life skills, these families can achieve independence and raise their children in a safe environment.
Agape House is not a shelter or temporary living quarters. The families are given a place to call home and the skills they need to stay employed and live within a budget.
Agape House has a limited staff and relies on volunteers to assist with mentoring, coaching and building relationships so that families can thrive and succeed.
Please help us support this worthy cause, whether it be with a monetary donation or thru volunteerism. Stop by the Caring for America booth and say hello. You can visit their website at info@AgapeHousePrescott.org.

Community Outreach Chair - Jody Allione
RWOP’s Community Outreach Committee is holding a drive for School Supplies and Backpacks for homeless children sponsored by the Chino Valley Education Foundation (CVEF). This year, we have added this event due to the dire need in our community.
There are almost 400 homeless children in Chino Valley Schools, which is about 17% of the population. Homeless children are defined as those not living with their parents or whose parents are unable to raise them. This puts them in the category of high-risk children, susceptible to trafficking, drugs, and other problems related to minimal supervision.
They often live with grandparents, great-grandparents, relatives, or other adults who care, or they have no home at all. To receive help from donations, they must go to school. This has put a big hardship on those attempting to help raise them because many of their guardians are on fixed incomes.
There is no school funding for homeless kids. The Title 1 funding from the Federal government only pays for 30 hours a week for one person at CVEF to help coordinate needs and often provide transportation to school and preschool. In addition to food and school supplies, the Foundation relies on donations for clothing and hygiene items. In June, RWOP contributed food boxes to CVEF from its annual Food Drive. Thank you, RWOP members.
The economy has truly hit these children hard. They need our help, and we are happy to support the hard-working staff at the Foundation. Below is a list of School Supplies and needed backpacks. We hope you help by giving to these kids.
Please bring your donations to the July 16 luncheon or email Beth Buckingham at elizabethgbuckingham@gmail.com if you can’t make the luncheon and wish to donate items.

INTERESTING NEWS FROM THE MEDIA CHAIR
We developed a new RWOP brochure that describes the inner workings of our Club and all its benefits. Please pick one up at the Membership Desk at the July Luncheon. This brochure can be used to explain RWOP easily to your friends and family.
Now, I want to share a special story about the painting of the plaza on the cover. In 2016, County Supervisor Craig Brown and his wife Sandi commissioned the portrait of the plaza from Steve Atkins, a local and well-known Prescott artist. Craig wanted a painting that blended Prescott’s past and present. In order to accurately depict the plaza, Steve took a photo of the plaza with some friends in historic clothing portraying the atmosphere of the early 1900s. The painting then became a reality.
| |
Here are the names of the participants:
- Gentlemen with newspaper: County Supervisor Craig Brown.
- Lady sitting next to Supervisor Brown: Jerry Thomas, Prescott Regulators, and their Shady Ladies.
- Woman in blue skirt: Ann Atkinson (artist’s wife).
- Man looking at Roughrider Monument: Dennis Gallagher, Founder/CEO of Prescott Western Heritage Foundation, and his wife MaryAnn.
- Woman walking her dog: Sandi Brown with her dog, “Snickers.”
- Couple in the lower right: Julie and Dennis Jennings, area realtors.
- Woman with red parasol: Shari Hill, historic reenactor.
- Man with Long Gun: Bill Hill, historical reenactor, single-action shooter.
- Man tipping his hat: Neil Thomas, Prescott Regulators, and their Shady Ladies.
Thank you, The Brown Family, for lending your beautiful plaza painting to RWOP.
If you would like a brochure mailed to you, feel free to contact me at ernstmarketing@gmail.com

AzFRW Region V Director - Heather Densmore
AzFRW is 100 Years Old
AzFRW is 100 years old and was founded in 1924 as AFRW. In 1992 they changed the name to include the “z” making the new name AzFRW to differentiate us from the three other states that begin with “A” and still go by AFRW, Alaska, Alabama, and Arkansas.
In February I attended the AzFRW Winter State Meeting down in Mesa Arizona. The Board voted to change the name of Statewide meetings to Statewide Board Meeting and Membership Conference. These meetings are open to all Active Members, and Associate Members that are spouses of an Active Member, of all 29 Republican Women’s Clubs in the state of Arizona not just Board Members.
In February we had a full packed weekend of training from various speakers that enlightened us in several ways. Friday at lunch we heard James T. Harris speak, a Leading Conservative talk show host on 550 KFYI in Phoenix and 790 KNST in Tucson. He is an amazing and uplifting speaker.
Saturday speakers at lunch were:
- Charlotte Perez – Chair of AZ Young Republicans, educated us as to what they are doing statewide,
- Rae Chornenky, Parliamentarian for AzFRW and Past President of NFRW and AzFRW
- Julie Harris the current President 2024-2025 of NFRW. She is young and a visionary leader.
In June fifteen RWOP members attended the Summer Statewide Board Meeting and Membership Conference held at Gila River – Wild Horse Pass Resort & Casino in Chandler, AZ.
Again, the line up of speakers was incredible we heard presentations from:
- Darla Gonzalez, AZ Free Enterprise Club,
- Corporate Commission candidates Lea Marquez Peterson, Rene Lopez, and Rachel Walden.
- Luncheon speakers were Cristopher Escobedo, Arizona State Director for the Trump Campaign and
-
Sheriff Mark Lamb Candidate for United states Senate.
In the afternoon we were blessed with presentations from:
- Warren Peterson, AZ senate President & Parental Rights
- Justine Wadsack, AZ Senator
- Tamra Farah, Arizona Women of Action, SMART Family Network
- Gina Swododa, Chairman, Republican Party of AZ
- Lois Fruhwirth, Prescott City Council
- Abe Hamadeh, Candidate US House of Representatives AZ CD8
The closing Luncheon speakers were:
- Cindy Casaus, NFRW Treasurer & Past President of AzFRW
- Congressman Andy Biggs and
- Congresswoman Debbie Lesko
Please plan to attend a future Membership Conference. The Fall meeting is October 17 – 19, 2024 at Casino del Sol in Tucson, AZ. Registration will be available in August. Here is what two of our members thought of the Summer Statewide Meeting:
“I was a little apprehensive and didn't know what to expect for my first time. I met so many incredibly kind and good women, and I had no idea there were so many Republican Women clubs. Excellent speakers fighting a good battle in their campaigns. A lot of good information and a great venue. Gave me a good boost to keep up the fight for the American people and the State of Arizona”!

“The AzFRW conference was informative and a pleasure to attend. In addition to all the activities I also attended a couple of meetings. The Club Treasurer and membership Meeting was enlightening. Joyce McClung truly brought to light the responsibilities of a Treasurer! The legislative Committee Meeting in addition to the update Darla Gonzalez presented, it was also a positive session towards uniting legislative Chairs from the various clubs”.
