THE TRUMPETER - June 2025 | |
President's Message - Sue Davis
| |
Once again, a protest is planned for Prescott Courthouse Plaza by the democrats. Over 550 demonstrations are reportedly scheduled across the country, this time using Flag Day to promote what they’re calling “No King Day.”
“No King Day” carries an unmistakable biblical echo. “In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.” Judges 21:25,17:6, 18:1, 19:1
This verse is not a celebration of freedom—it’s a warning. It describes a time of moral confusion, lawlessness, and the absence of godly leadership. In biblical context, “no king” doesn’t symbolize liberation—it marks a vacuum of authority where disorder takes root and righteousness is abandoned.
Many of us recall our youthful countercultural phases, but most outgrow it. Sadly, some remain stuck in permanent rebellion. It’s disappointing—but not surprising.
Is this a period of spiritual and civic breakdown?
I say yes, and it is more important than ever to stand firm in our values, our faith, and our understanding of what true leadership and freedom really means.
| |
So, let’s redirect our energy to what matters: the bigger picture.
Here at home, we are grateful to see strong, principled leadership return to the White House. The era of ambiguity and DEI is behind us. In its place: renewed respect, smart trade policies, and a firm commitment to rebuilding American greatness.
On the world stage, President Trump continues to lead with boldness and vision. He recently secured historic artificial intelligence investment partnerships with strategic allies in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar—positioning the United States as a global leader in this vital, energy-driven field. He also played a critical role in lifting long-standing sanctions on Syria, a significant step toward restoring peace and stability in the Middle East. His strategy is unmistakable: stand with allies, advance mutual prosperity, and champion peace through strength.
President Trump also helped ease growing tensions between nuclear-armed India and Pakistan—yet another example of his hands-on, no-nonsense diplomacy.
| | This month, RWOP is proud to celebrate First Responders in recognition of the incredible men and women who are always there when we need them most. | |
Firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, Dispatchers and First Responders are the heartbeat of our community. They run toward emergencies, stand calm in chaos, and offer help when it’s needed most. Their courage, compassion, and commitment do not go unnoticed.
As a small way of saying “thank you,” RWOP provides a complimentary lunch to all first responders attending our luncheon meeting. It’s a simple gesture, but it comes from the deepest place of gratitude. Please express your personal appreciation to our first responder guests for their service, strength, and unwavering dedication.
| | | A special thank you goes to Valerie Ellis, our Armed Services Chair, for showing what real, year-round support looks like RWOP doesn’t just honor veterans on holidays—we stand by them every day We’re thrilled to announce that RWOP took first place at the U.S. VETS Steps for Vets event for having the most participants in the 5K fundraiser for veteran housing. Congratulations to all the ladies who participated, and thank you for representing RWOP with such pride and heart. | |
Looking ahead, your RWOP leadership is working tirelessly to maintain a strong red-county reputation while providing respectful, informative and education-based news and speakers in every level of local and state government. We look forward to hosting Attorney General and Governor Republican candidates who are willing to speak, listen and engage with our members. Whether or not we agree on every issue, respect their courage—it takes real grit to step into the public arena, even at Republican-friendly events!
Your membership and commitment to Republican values, community engagement and civic responsibility is what makes RWOP not just a political organization, but a powerful force for good in Prescott and beyond. Thank you for your energy, your heart, and your unwavering support. We are so grateful to have you as part of the RWOP family. You make a difference—every single day. Together, we move forward—with purpose, patriotism, and a deep love for our community.

Caring For America - Nancy Grigas
Hungry Kids Project
| |
The Hungry Kids Project in Chino Valley is our June Charity of the Month.
Homelessness and hunger have grown in Arizona, and Chino Valley has been no exception. Over the past 5 years the number of homeless children being served by Hungry Kids has grown from an average of 260 to 404. Early applications indicate this number will increase again this year.
Homelessness is defined by the Federal Government as “lacking a fixed, regular and adequate nighttime residence”. Families have to apply and are verified for the Hungry Kids program.
Chino Valley students have a 4-day school week, so the bags the volunteers pack each
Thursday contains 9 meals. Last year over 130,000 meals were prepared. This is financially unsustainable. Although Hungry Kids Project works with some of our local food banks, it is still not enough.
They need donations from people like you. $400 feeds 1 child for the entire school year and $40 feeds 1 child for 1 month. Please help with whatever you can.

| | Legislation - Susan Cohen | |
Many of you have heard about the One Big, Beautiful Bill and its behemoth 1400+ pages.
It passed the House just before Memorial Day weekend on May 22nd by 1 vote, with two Republicans voting ‘Nay” – Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Warren Davidson of Ohio.
| |
This historical piece of legislation, if passed in the Senate (hopefully by July 4), will give permanent tax relief for American workers, farmers, and small businesses, all of which are the backbone of our economic engine. It will reshape America’s tax code, social programs, national security priorities, and how we will govern AI (artificial intelligence). President Trump is certainly not wasting any time getting us back on track from the four-year fiasco of the Biden Administration.
Here are a few highlights of that piece of legislation that aims to reduce our national debt of $36.895 trillion:
- Permanent extension of 2017 tax cuts; tax exemptions on tips, overtime, and auto loan interest; increase in Child Tax Credit to $2,500; creation of $1,000 “Trump Savings Accounts” for newborns
-
$700 million in federal cut to Medicaid with stricter work requirements
- $267 billion federal cut to SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), formerly known as food stamps; much of this budget will not be cut as the money will be moved to the states' treasuries.
- $70 billion for border security improvements; $150 billion increase in defense spending; aim to deport up to 1 million individuals annually
- 10-year ban on state AI regulations; federal control over AI governance
The bill’s supporters say it’s about “making America strong, free, and prosperous”. Critics argue it’s more about consolidating power and shifting burdens onto the most vulnerable populations. If we look back at history, LBJ did our nation no favors by creating the Great Society. That move gave us the welfare state that continues to grow out of control, especially with all the illegal aliens draining that system.
This legislation will stimulate prosperity and increase opportunities that are at the heart of the America First vision. Trump rarely does anything without knowing the outcome. We should first be grateful that he is our president. Next let’s pray for our leaders in the Senate that they pass the One Big, Beautiful Bill. Unfortunately, Arizona will not be a part of this history as our 2 senators, as all Democrats, will stand united against Trump and the American people.
| | Community Outreach - Jodi Allione | |
The 2nd Annual Mother’s Day Tea was a lovely tribute to many mothers in the Granite Creek Residential Center. These ladies (and some men too) were treated to flowers, gift bags, and homemade tea sandwiches and a variety of homemade cookies while they were serenaded by the famous RWOP singers. Zoe, the “Therapy Dog at Large” brough lots of smiles and cuddles.
Thank you to all who helped and attended this event.

JUNE 2025 COLLECTION: SCHOOL SUPPLIES FOR CHILDREN
RWOP’s Community Outreach Committee is holding a second annual drive for School
Supplies and Backpacks for homeless children who are sponsored by the Chino Valley
Education Foundation (CVEF). Last year we collected two truckloads of backpacks and school supplies, enough to help cover the needs of all the children with needs. We will be collecting backpacks and school supplies for grade school children as listed below at the RWOP June 17 Luncheon.
These children need our help, and we are happy to support the hard-working staff at the
Foundation. We hope you help by giving to these kids. Please bring your donations to the June17 luncheon or contact Beth Buckingham at elizabethgbuckingham@gmail.com if you can’t make the luncheon and wish to donate items.
