Public Rail Now has launched an easy and anonymous public comment form that railroad workers and other communities of interest can use to voice their opposition to the UP-NS merger.
The Surface Transportation Board is deciding whether Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern can merge. Railroad workers will live with the result, and the STB needs to hear from them before November 18, 2026.
The STB accepts public comments, but only from registered parties of record. The process is tedious and wasn't built for individual commenters. So Public Rail Now registered, and they will file your comment for you.
How it works:
-
Go to Submit a Comment: Oppose the UP-NS Merger.
- Write your comment in the form.
- PRN submits it to the STB as a party of record. Your name will not be attached to the filing.
Why they built it this way: Employer retaliation is common in the rail industry, and workers shouldn't have to risk their jobs to be heard. To stay protected, leave out details that could identify you, such as your terminal, crew base, or supervisor's name.

Submit your comment today, then forward this to a coworker, family and community members. This form is for everyone impacted by the merger and available for all to use.
