September 2022
Dear Chevre,
Welcome to the month of Elul, our day-by-day stepping stones of spiritual ascent as we journey toward the open gates of the Jewish New Year. I am so looking forward to this New Year in our community.
We will have a new home for Rosh HaShana and Yom Kippur in a wonderful Unitarian spacious sanctuary right in the heart of our neighborhood. We left the Ethical Society building because we wanted an accessible site; that space was a lovely home for our community for many years. We leave with gratitude and appreciation for those years and look forward to building deeper relationships with our new hosts.
Many of us will finally be back in person for our services this year but with the added option of being on zoom for those who prefer it. We're proud of doing our best to create interactive connection between those in the room and those on Zoom in this experimental new moment. I hope you'll join in with a spirit of adaptation and "making it work" come what may.
The world can be so challenging and distressing that now more than ever it is important to invest in caring community. We welcome you to do that with Leyv Ha-Ir~Heart of the City. The door is open.
Love and Blessing,
Rabbi Julie
