Hello again to the TMC Sunrise at Old Tucson Trail Run registrants and volunteers.

We had a great day out there yesterday with so many smiles, happy faces, and fun racing outfits. We also saw a bunch of skinned knees and cactus wounds, and we hope everyone is doing well today . . .

As a way to thank you for being part of the TMC Old Tucson Trail Run event, farther below is a discount code to our next event on April 19th, the TMC Earth Day 5k at the Biosphere 2.

Also, we've opened registration for next year's TMC Old Tucson Trail Run and you can register here for the low price of $25 until the end of March. We're going to make some changes to the races next year, but please feel free to take advantage of this discount for early-bird pricing!

Old Tucson is one of our favorite race locations and we can't produce this particular event without the support of the team at Old Tucson Entertainment. Special thanks to the team at Old Tucson for helping us get back to such a fun venue!

OK, read on for more post-race information:

  • How to pick up awards and remaining shirts
  • Where to find race photos

Awards and Remaining Shirts

AWARDS: Results are posted in a number of places, so you can follow the various links here at Roadrunner Race Timing and at the registration results link.

If you earned an age-group award in the Female 4-Miler or the Male 4-Miler, you can pick up the gift card at The Running Shop through March 15th. Awards went to the top three men and women in the 4-mile divisions, first 40+ in each division, and then the top three in age groups, from 14U through 80+.

There were no age group awards in the Family Mile.

The Running Shop is at 3055 North Campbell Avenue.

REMAINING SHIRTS: If you did not make it to either of the packet pickup opportunities, you can visit the Running Shop through March 15th to pick up your race shirt. As we've announced throughout, shirts are first-come, first-served in terms of sizing. At this point, there are a lot of extra shirts but we c promise that everyone will receive their perfect sizing.

REFUNDS: Please note that there are no refunds for the event.

Photos

We've posted a bunch of snapshots at the race photo page and our race photographer, John Harris, will soon post his race photos at the course registration page here.

Geoff Schmidt from the Running Shop posted about 300 snapshots at The Running Shop facebook page.

Please feel free to post your own photos on this page, too!

For social media, you can tag @RunTucson and @RunSAR -- we're trying to bring more people to vacation in Tucson, so feel free to tag @VisitTucson and @OldTucson, too!

Race Report

On the speedster side of things, the overall winners both ran strong races to set new course records over these challenges trails. (We think the course is closer to 4.14 miles, but we're not entirely sure exactly how long it is.)

The first race of the day saw local Mica Mountain high school student Hailey Burke take first place in 27:20, a new course record for this iteration of the TMC Old Tucson Trail Run. Hailey (in black, top photo, above) held off 2d place finisher Leandra Fifer (in white, top photo, above), who finished in 27:33, also faster than the previous course record. Third saw Jennifer Peters cross under the arch in 29:07.

Our final finisher in the Women's Four-Mile was Angela Moore, whose smiling 2:36 finish showed serious perseverance!

In the Open race, Jose Delgado (below) took the first step off the line and never looked back -- well, he did look back, but there was nobody there because he ran a great race and finished in 22:27, a personal best on the course.

Ultra-marathoner Manny Ochoa was second in 25:00 while third place saw Johnny Ramos finish in 25:32.

Our final finisher in the men's race was local running legend Don Branaman, who finished in 1:09:41, 7 minutes faster than last year -- not bad for 86 years of age.

The Family One Mile saw 9-year-old Ahren Engel clock a 7:44 first place finish. Thanks to all of you who walked and ran the mile!

Thanks to Geoff Schmidt for announcing all the awards!
