Well, we’re a bit tardy in thanking of you for doing the TMC Get Moving Tucson events last weekend – but please know that we’re so very grateful to the 2,000 registrants from Tucson and the 27 states and four countries.
Thanks to your entry fees and our sponsors (in particular TMC, Cox, and Rio Nuevo), you helped raise over $25,000 for Tucson’s BEYOND Foundation, Presidio san Agustin del Tucson Museum, Watershed Management, the Southern Arizona Roadrunners, and Team Hoyt Arizona, a children's wheelchair running charity.

We are delighted to work so closely with our local non-profit running club, the Southern Arizona Roadrunners . As lifelong runners, we think that out-of-town event companies have their place in the running industry, but we’re a family-run entity committed to making our home a better place to live. Thank you for being part of it!!

Below is a detailed post-race report with all sorts of information. I’m writing this while in North Carolina teaching an RRCA Coaching Course this weekend, but if you need anything, please contact me at [email protected] and I’ll try to help! - Randy
1) Results, Awards, & Schwag
Roadrunner Race Timing posted race results on the www.azroadrunners.org front page at noon of race day, so check ‘em out if you want to see where everyone finished. To fix something, please email the timer or the race director.

Age Groups: Thanks to the Running Shop for providing gift certificates plus the commemorative coffee mug.

In the TMC A-Mountain Half-Marathon, top three in 5-year age groups in both races won awards (U-20 through 80+), while first place in five-year age groups won awards in the Tucson Lifestyle 5k. If you think you won an award, please visit the Running Shop at 3055 North Campbell Avenue. They will hold awards until the end of November, 2018.

Finisher Medals: The commemorative finisher medallions are only for finishers, but if you finished the race and did not pick up your medal, please visit The Running Shop to snag your medal.

Finisher Medals & Shirts for Late Registrants: We were worried about running out, but we have additional items available to late registrants who finished. Again, please visit The Running Shop to get a shirt and a medal.

Gabe Zimmerman Triple Crown: We have mailed via USPS shirts and medals to those Virtual registrants who live outside the Tucson region. Those of you in the Tucson area who have not picked up your items, please visit the Running Shop to get your shirt and race medal by November 15 th .

At this point, post-race shirts and medals are first-come, first-served. All left-over items will be donated to charity at the end of November.

2) Race Recap: Speedsters and RRCA State Championship

The men's race saw Craig Hunt from Flagstaff take the early lead and hold it all the way through the preem at the top of A-Mountain and onto the Riverpath. However, steadily stalking Hunt was Harry Mulenga, the winner of the recent TMC Tucson 10k.

As they came upon the 12-mile mark, Mulenga made his move and was in the lead for the final mile along St. Mary’s and up the gentle hill to the finish in front of Tucson’s Old Courthouse.

With his victory, Mulenga established himself as Tucson’s top road racer for the 2018 season. Second place went to Flagstaff’s Craig Hunt in 1:09:34, while third place saw Kenyan Henry Lelei finish in 1:11:22. Racing for the Running Shop Racing Team, UA alum Randy Arriola celebrated Homecoming by snagging fourth place overall.

In the women's field, Lauren Reasoner of Tucson Runner's Project took first place in 1:28;22, with TMC’s Tara Bruce running for the Workout Group second in 1:34:03 and Alexandra Brasington third in 1:36:16.

Lauren snagged the preem award for being the first female to the “A” at Sentinel Peak.

Brian Leroy continued his master’s supremacy with a 1:22:27. Ageless wonder Janet Holland took the master’s female crown in 1:43:33.

Special Perseverance Shout-Out: Laura Veretenikoff from Irvine, CA was our final finisher, while just ahead of her was the mother-daughter-daughter team of Yolanda Whiteman, Andrea Flores, and Diana Bautista.

Early-Start: Erin Kaber and Karen Drawdy spent the longest time on the course -- way to persevere!!
