Starting the New Year off with a BANG!

Jan 25 & 26 | 2025

Wapiti Nordic is hosting not one but two Provincial races right away! This weekend will see 150 athletes from across the Province at our venue and the organizing committee is super stoked! The main lodge and biathlon parking will be for racers, volunteers and spectators only. Expect some increased activity and set up in these areas on Friday 24th too. All Member and public trail access will be from the North lot off Hwy 40 - see map. Red zone = race course. Feb 8 & 9 | 2025

Our second Provincial event comes hot on the heels in two weeks - this time athletes will be armed for action! Details on trail impacts will be released closer to that event. We are still seeking volunteers for this race so please email us via the red button if you can help out on one or both days. Thank you!

Jan 10-12 | 2025

A big thanks to everyone who attended one, two or all three shows at NWP in support of Wapiti Nordic. Attendance was on par with 2024, so net proceeds should reflect this too. The Sunday matinee saw an uptick in headcounts and lots of youth / future adventurers in the audience. And a special thanks to local sponsors: Trekkers Outdoors Ltd, Nitehawk Year Round Adventure Park and Grain Bin Brewing Company. Missed out? Previous years World Tour packages can be viewed via the Banff Centre's On Demand program online - but hard to beat seeing it on the big NWP screen!

We now have certified Instructors lined up to teach and are raring to go! Classic and skate technique lessons available in small group or private session format. Equipment rentals available too if needed. Full details on our website + more dates coming in February once snow conditions improve.

Winter | 2024-2025

Apologies to Club Members that the Camelbacks have not been open this season. We have made every effort relative to conditions, and sincerely hope that with additional snow, this trail will be skiable later this Winter 2024-2025 season. There is significant earth work planned for this trail in Spring 2025 to resolve hill movement that occurred late in 2024. As always, feedback is welcome and watch for a more detailed feedback survey coming before the end of the season.

Jan | 2025

Our Children's Learn to Ski program is off to a good start despite challenging snow and temperature conditions. The Saturday morning sessions have included games, skiing under noodle hoops, agility on the challenge course, retrieving duckies, playing with noodle horses, and skiing the vee board (thank you for the donation Triple Terrain Trail Trekkers) twisties maze. Several first time skiers are participating in the Ab Cup this weekend. In total, there are 20 skiers from the Children’s program who will be skiing in the U8 & U10 categories. Photo shows several Jackrabbits skiing past the race team and giving them high-fives!

The race team (pictured in Canmore, Dec 24th) continues to be busy with provincial races are we are SO excited to be racing on home territory this month! If you have kids in Jackrabbits, please keep an eye out for us interacting with your children and helping with their participation in our race. The WNSC Multi-Use Grooming Team has successfully packed and groomed 12/12 kilometers of groomable singletrack!

• North Loop 5km: Now in prime condition—ready for you to enjoy!
• South Loop 7km: Equally wonderful with rolling terrain!

This trail system offers a regionally unique experience, available exclusively to WNSC members and day pass holders. Thank you for being part of our community and supporting these exceptional trails!

March 9 | 2025

Planning is continuing for our own home grown Wapiti Nordic fun loppet event on Sunday, March 9th. There will be multiple distances, something for all ages, and possibly a fat bike and snowshoe option on top of the ski component! Registration will open mid February. Stay tuned!
