This Sunday is Racial Justice Sunday!

Join us for our two worship services at 9 and 11 a.m. with Rev. Jessica Chapman Lape – a womanist pastoral theologian, chaplain and doula rooted in faith, love and reproductive justice –who will preach at both services. The Asiginaak Singers, a hand drum and singing group, will perform as well.

At 10 am, choose to attend either Sunday Forum or our Small Group discussion.

Sunday Forum: Our speaker is Kenya McKnight-Ahad, founder and CEO of Black Women’s Wealth Alliance (BWWA). BWWA is a culturally specific institution that has been serving Black women-owned businesses, workers and students since 2014. Join us in the chapel, where McKnight-Ahad will talk about the power, responsibility and opportunity women have in healing generational traumas, closing the racial wealth gap, and helping to cultivate a more just and fair society for our collective future.

Small group discussion: for children, youth and adults will be held at 10 a.m. in the Howard Conn Gallery. Young people have grown up in a very different society as it pertains to race, and they have perspectives that can challenge and change us. Join co-facilitators Nina Jonson, director of Children and Youth Ministry, and Aiysha Mustapha, Advancement and Equity Specialist in Robbinsdale Public Schools, for an intergenerational conversation on race. Don’t miss this chance to hear from, interact with and share conversation with the children and teens who are the future of our church and our country. (Conversation is best for children grades 4 and up).

There is no programming for children younger than 3rd grade this Sunday. If you are interested in volunteering to support younger children who may be in attendance by caring for them in room 209 during the 10am hour, please contact Nina Jonson.

 On Thursday May 25th, Plymouth is honored to be hosting Shifting the Spotlight, featuring the Rev. Dr. Otis Moss III and the Sounds of Blackness. This event will end at 7:30, in time for attendees to go to George Floyd Square for the 3rd annual vigil in honor and memory of George Floyd.

TRIPS! (A note from Nina: planning trips requires lots of time and logistics. Currently I have two young people signed up for each of our trips, though I have heard from more that they are interested and available. PLEASE take time to register your kids. I will have to cancel out of town trips by June 1st without numbers of actual registrants increasing.)

Middle School (rising 6th-8th graders) overnight to Duluth--June 16th and 17th. $75

High School Trip (rising 9th graders-recently graduated 12th graders) to Madison, WI June 23rd-25th $200-250 (optional tickets to see a touring Broadway show OR a sporting event)

MidMonth Mingle, 5:30-7:30pm 6/21, 7/12 and 8/16 Join us for dinner (we provide the main, the community potlucks the rest), an intergenerational activity, and opportunities to chat and reconnect.
