IMSA is in Motown this weekend for the Chevrolet Detroit Sports Car Classic, where they join INDYCAR, who race the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix. WorldSBK is in Spain for the Aragon Round and MotoAmerica is in Wisconsin for Superbikes at Road America. Read on for race coverage and previews.

Qualifying is underway for the 2026 Isle of Man TT. Yesterday Daniel Ingham was killed during qualifying on the treacherous circuit. He leaves a wife and two children behind. On Monday, one competitor and eight spectators were injured when the rider lost control and went into the crowd.

ENJOY YOUR RACE WEEKEND!

MOTOGP - The MotoGP World Championship is in the hills of Tuscany for this weekend's Brembo Grand Prix of Italy. Before racing resumes we have some injury updates and rider replacement news.

Johann Zarco is out indefinitely as he awaits surgery on his knee following a horrifying accident at the Catalan Grand Prix. The swelling in his knee has to subside before any surgery. LCR Honda announced that he will be replaced this weekend by Cal Crutchlow.

On Tuesday it was announced that Ducati test rider Michele Pirro will get his second outing of the season at Mugello standing in for the injured Alex Marquez for the Gresini Racing team this weekend. The 39-year-old Italian will line-up alongside Fermin Aldeguer for the team’s home Grand Prix while Alex Marquez continues his recovery at home.

The Ducati Lenovo Team has announced that Marc Marquez has been given the green light to take part in the first session of the weekend, FP1. Marquez crashed in the Tissot Sprint in Le Mans and suffered a small fracture in his foot, rendering him unfit. With that, the seven-time MotoGP World Champion also decided to bring forward some previously scheduled surgery on his shoulder, which he injured in Indonesia last year. After the first practice session, he will then undergo another review to determine his final fitness to take part in the entire weekend’s action.

Marc Marquez: "The recovery is progressing as planned, I've gone back to training normally over the last few days and I will be on track mainly to test my actual feelings and physical condition aboard the Desmosedici GP. Both surgeries went well, but we are proceeding with all due caution and with the final medical checks at the track. Mugello is an incredible track, to be honest also a very demanding one, but the support of all the Ducatisti will be an extra motivational booster to do well."

In racing news; the Aprilia dominance in the season's first quarter seems distant with Ducati wins in two of the three previous Grands Prix. Alex Marquez won in Jerez, Jorge Martin in France and Fabio Di Giannantonio took home the spoils from a chaotic Catalan GP.

Despite the recent results, Marco Bezzecchi and Aprilia roll into Mugello with the lead in the World Championship. At the last round, Bez was bumped up to a P4 finish after Joan Mir was hit with a tire pressure penalty.

The No. 72 was also aided by a crash between his teammate Jorge Martin and the Trackhouse Aprilia of Raul Fernandez. The results mean that Bezzecchi increased his Championship lead over teammate Jorge Martin from one point to 15 points.

Marco Bezzecchi Portugal '25 Winner

Marco Bezzecchi Leads the World Championship Heading to Home GP

Breaking up the Aprilia party at the front of the field, however, Fabio Di Giannantonio arrives from his second win in MotoGP. He was on the podium at Mugello in 2025. For rival Pedro Acosta Mugello is enemy territory. ‘The Shark’ was on pole and 0.041s away from Sprint victory on Saturday in Barcelona and taken out a few hundred yards from the finish at Catalunya. Mugello offers a chance to get himself back in the game. Both riders are 26 and 50 points behind Bezzecchi respectively, after having been locked much closer together before Barcelona.

Marco Bezzecchi: I am extremely happy to be going to Mugello. It will be fantastic to race in front of all our fans, and we’re highly motivated to do well. We’ll be giving it one hundred percent and working hard to achieve the absolute best possible result."

Pramac Racing Limited has strengthened its leadership structure with the appointment of Ross Brawn, who will serve as advisor to Team Principal Paolo Campinoti.

Ross Brawn: "I‘m delighted to join the board of Pramac Racing Limited in a non-executive role. Motorsport has always been about people, teamwork and continuous improvement, and I look forward to supporting Paolo and the team and contributing where my experience may be useful. Pramac has built an impressive organization with a strong spirit and ambition, and I‘m excited to be part of its future."

Next up is the Brembo Grand Prix of Italy from Mugello on Sunday, May 31st. The Sprint Race on Saturday, May 30th is on FS2 at 8:55 AM ET. The Brembo Grand Prix of Italy broadcast begins at 7:30 AM Eastern on FS1.

2026 MOTOGP CALENDAR

WORLDSBK - The MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship has rolled into Spain to race this weekend at MotorLand Aragon for Round 6 of the 2026 campaign. Track action gets underway tomorrow. Ahead of racing, riders gathered for the Thursday Press Conference to discuss their feelings heading into the Aragon Round.

Nicolo Bulega: “We had a test at Misano, so I think we found something that I like. I’m curious to try it here. I’m confident. It’s a track I like; Ducati are always very strong here. I have everything I need to go fast. We’ll have to keep an eye on the weather, as it looks very, very hot. We tried something at the test on the settings side. During the winter, we never had a chance to play a little bit with the bike. It was like a pre-season test. We tried a lot of different setups. We’re just continuing to talk. My manager is at Mugello this weekend, so I hope to have some more news after the weekend.”

Bulega Leucona Czech 1-2

Bulega and Leucona are 1-2 in the Standings

Iker Lecuona: “I’m excited for my home round, I like this track a lot, but for sure it’ll be a hard weekend with the higher temperatures. It’ll be the first time trying the Ducati at such high ground temperatures; it will be interesting to see what we can carry over from the hot Misano test here in this round. I know the tracks are different, but we will work on implementing the test results. The objective is to win, but it has been the objective since Portimão. I haven’t been able to do it yet, but it would be great to do it here in Aragon in front of my family, friends and all of the support from the Spanish fans. I’ll work run by run to be ready for the races. At the Misano test, we focused a lot on race pace; we tried things on a very different setup. My manager is at Aragon. The team are happy with my performances, I’m happy for sure! The objective is to continue next year together.”

Last time out in Most, Barni Spark Racing Team's Yari Montella took another podium for the team and a Ducati lockout of the top three positions. Montella is P3 in the standings, 94 points behind Iker Leucona.

Yari Montella: “I’m in a good moment in my career. After Most and the Misano test, I’m feeling really good on the bike. We have been improving every day, and we need to continue in this way. The goal is to close the gap to first place; we will see if Aragon will be our weekend. Looking back a few months ago, I would not have anticipated being in this position; it wasn’t in our plans. Our idea to start the season was just to build on my rookie year in 2025. Looking at the Yari of last year, I would not have thought I’d be the Yari I am today. We’ve taken a big step, and I think we can maintain this momentum. We tried a lot of things, including a new Suter swingarm, during testing. It was a good improvement, but we need to continue working on the setup and other areas. The Suter swingarm makes the bike ride a bit harder, but I felt more stability with it on the corner exit, which is an area where I felt we were missing something. Elsewhere, I felt it gave us better grip, so it was interesting. It’s a big change, but Suter and Barni will make some changes before we adopt it. We will see if we will get it before the end of the season.”

The Aragon Round is this weekend, with Race 1 at 7:00 AM ET Saturday, with Sunday's Race 2 broadcast also at 7:00 AM ET, both on RACER Network.

WORLDSBK 2026 CALENDAR

MOTOAMERICA - MotoAmerica is in Wisconsin this weekend at "America's National Park of Speed" aka Road America. It will be Round 3 of the Quad Lock Superbike Championship.

In the Supersport Class on Sunday, May 17th, MP13 Racing's Ella Dreher was injured when she could not avoid the bike of Ryder Davis who crashed out, leaving his bike in the middle of the racing line. Ella Dreher had no time to avoid making contact with the downed motorcycle.

The promising young rider will sit out this weekend's Road America Round and according to Team Principal Melissa Paris, there will be no substitute rider on the No. 10 MV Agusta.

Melissa Paris: "Ella has a long road ahead of her but her team is behind her all the way. The No. 10 bike is hers and will be ready when she is. While we will likely have a fill in rider at some point, this weekend we are focused on supporting Avery (Dreher) and of course on Ella’s continuing recovery."

Road America is the longest track on the calendar and is known as a horsepower circuit, which favors top end speed. This may be just the advantage that Matthew Scholtz's competition needs to get an advantage over the Strack Racing Yamaha rider. The Yamaha YZF-R1 is known for superb handling, but it lacks the raw top-end power of its rivals.

Scholtz Barber Wins

Mathew Scholtz Will Be Challenged at Road America

The high-speed layout favors bikes with top-end speed like that of OrangeCat Racing BMW's Sean Dylan Kelly on the BMW M 1000 RR.

Cameron Beaubier has 11 career wins at Road America, the most of any Superbike rider in history, and he is still hunting for his first double-podium of the season on the HSBK Ducati Flo4Law Ducati Panigale V4 R.

Other riders looking to capitalize on their machine's top end power are Wrench Motorcycles’ Cameron Petersen, aboard the Ducati Panigale V4 R, OrangeCat Racing’s Jayson Uribe on his BMW M 1000 RR, Real Steel Honda’s Hayden Gillim on his Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP and PJ Jacobsen on the Rahal Ducati Moto Ducati Panigale V4 R.

Also, M4 ECSTAR Suzuki riders Richie Escalante and Brandon Paasch bring their high-revving Suzuki GSX-R1000Rs into the fold. Both riders look to use the powerful inline-four cylinder to their advantage on the long straights.

JD Beach and Attack Performance Progressive Yamaha teammate Bobby Fong will also be looking to hit their marks and maximize drive on corner exits and draft the faster bikes. If they can out brake the competition we should see a real Yo-Yo type race with bikes stretching leads, only to be hauled back in under braking and on corner exit.

MotoAmerica return to action this weekend at "America's National Park of Speed". MotoAmerica Superbikes at Road America is May 29th - 31st. Both races are on VICE, with broadcast times at 4:00 PM Eastern on Saturday and Sunday.

FORMULA 1 - With his Lenovo Grand Prix du Canada victory, Kimi Antonelli has now won four consecutive races. Coupled with the retirement of teammate George Russell he has increased his lead in the World Championship to 43 points.

The two Mercedes teammates were racing each other hard in the GP's early stages, but a power unit issue on Russell's car forced his retirement. Antonelli went on to win by 10.7 seconds over Lewis Hamilton, who took a strong second place for Ferrari, the seven-time World Champion overtaking the Red Bull of Max Verstappen in the final laps.

It was the first podium of 2026 for Verstappen, with Charles Leclerc and Isack Hadjar fourth and fifth in the sister Ferrari and Red Bull cars. Franco Colapinto had another good race for Alpine, finishing sixth. Racing Bulls’ Liam Lawson held off the other Alpine of Pierre Gasly as the pair claimed P7 and P8. Carlos Sainz added to Williams’ tally in ninth, and Haas’ Ollie Bearman sealed the final point on offer in 10th.

CEO Zak Brown was off in Indiana while McLaren had a miserable race, neither cars scoring any points on Sunday. Oscar Piastri was P11, with Lando Norris a technical DNF, reporting a possible issue with the gearbox.

Kimi Canada 26 Win

Antonelli and Russell Fought Hard at the Grand Prix du Canada

Nico Hulkenberg, Gabriel Bortoleto, Esteban Ocon, Lance Stroll and Valtteri Bottas were the final classified runners, the race having ended with a list of six retirees in Sergio Perez, Lando Norris, George Russell, Fernando Alonso, Alex Albon and Arvid Lindblad.

Kimi Antonelli: "First of all, massive commiserations to George. I feel very sorry for him as he was leading the race and was super strong. We were having a great battle in that first stint and very close on pace. I am sure it would have gone right until the end of the Grand Prix, and I am disappointed we didn't get the chance to continue that.

"It was not an easy race for us. The wind was very tricky and with the low temperatures, it was hard to get the tires working. We had several lock-ups, particularly in the early stages, but fortunately were able to keep it on the track and get to the checkered flag first. It is of course not how we want to win but we will take it. We now get ready for the European portion of the season and six races in eight weekends leading up to the shutdown. It will be an intense period, but we are looking forward to it."

The Louis Vuitton Grand Prix de Monaco is on Sunday, June 7th. The broadcast begins at 7:50 AM Eastern on Apple TV.

2026 FORMULA 1 CALENDAR.

Alboreto: Gasoline in the Veins - The story about the man who grew up to realize his childhood dream of driving a Formula 1 car for Enzo Ferrari is now available once more in the United States. Alboreto: Gasoline in the Veins is written by Michele Alboreto's brother Ermanno and details his early years and rise through the racing ranks. It also tells about his character outside the car and that is the contribution that we are most proud to be associated with. It began with an interview during Michele's Indy car career and a request to use it in his life story. We also contributed interviews with his teammates and racing legends like Giacomo Agostini. Listen to that interview HERE. For ordering info, reply to this update for details. INDYCAR - The distance between the winner and second place finisher in the 110th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge was miniscule. The difference in their emotions was expansive.

Felix Rosenqvist, in the No. 60 SiriusXM Honda of Meyer Shank Racing w/Curb Agajanian barely edged David Malukas in the No. 12 Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet by just .0233 of a second. It was the closest finish in the century-plus history of “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.”

The previous closest finish in “500” history came in 1992, when Al Unser Jr. held off a charging Scott Goodyear by .043 of a second. An incredible .4360 of a second separated the top-five finishers. Rosenqvist’s average speed was 162.021 mph.

Felix Rosenqvist's elation over the close win was in stark contrast to the tears that rolled down the face of a dejected David Malukas. The Penske driver was genuinely inconsolable.

This year's "500" featured an event-record 70 lead changes over its 200 laps, breaking the previous mark of 68 set in 2013. With his second career NTT INDYCAR SERIES victory, Rosenqvist became the third Swedish driver to win “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing,” joining Kenny Brack (1999) and Marcus Ericsson (2022).

Scott McLaughlin finished third in the No. 3 Pennzoil Team Penske Chevrolet, as the fabled team placed two drivers in the top three but fell just short of a record-extending 21st Indy 500 victory.

Pato O’Ward placed fourth in the No. 5 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet, his fifth career top-four finish in seven “500” starts without a victory. Marcus Armstrong rounded out the top five in the No. 66 Acura Honda of Meyer Shank Racing w/Curb Agajanian despite taking the green flag in the lead on a one-lap shootout for the victory after a late caution.

2026 Indy 500 Finish

Felix Rosenqvist By a Nose

Felix Rosenqvist: "Honestly, it's still kind of a blur. I had that momentum going, and I was kind of like, I'm going to go on the high line, and I'm not going to ruin this momentum. If someone comes in the way, that's it.

"But no one did, and I was able to stay on the high lane through the whole thing, and I was getting a side draft at the same time from the other guys.

"But I thought I was second, to be honest. I was like, this is -- this sucks, now we're second in the 500. I guess it was a good day; we did what we could.

"Then it just kind of pulled, like the big Honda motor just -- yeah, I thought I didn't have it, and then I shifted up, and it was just kind of sucking up to David, and it was just enough to get me over the finish line half a foot ahead of him. You can't even dream up that stuff. It was just so cool. I'll watch it a million times."

INDYCAR Officiating announced a post-race technical inspection penalty for the No. 10 of Chip Ganassi Racing following the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge. During post-race inspection of car No. 10, INDYCAR Officiating discovered the front wing of car No. 10 failed the front wing height measurement.

CGR blamed the infraction on a part failure discovered in the front wing assembly of the No. 10 car. The failure caused the wing to fall out of compliance with INDYCAR’s technical parameters post-race, resulting in a $10,000 fine and a 5-point penalty in the championship standings. Chip Ganassi Racing did not attempt to gain an unfair advantage in the race, and accepted the penalty.

INDYCAR stays in the Midwest for the the Motown street race this weekend. The Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix is on Sunday. The 2026 Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix will mark the NTT INDYCAR SERIES’ 16th visit to Detroit, and the 14th since 2008. The Motor City hosted Indy car racing from 1989-91 in Downtown Detroit. The race moved to Belle Isle Park from 1992-2001 and 2007-2008 and returned from 2012-2022.

This is obviously an important race for Chevrolet, as the title sponsor of the race, which is in General Motors backyard. Their only engine competitor in the series is rolling out the red, white and blue for the event. HRC US and Chip Ganassi Racing will be flying a special HRC livery on the No. 10 Honda driven by reigning and four-time NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion Alex Palou at this weekend’s race.

The Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear will be televised on FOX at 12:30 PM ET Sunday, May 31st. For practice, qualifying and warmup broadcast times and channels, refer to the Jay Geils Memorial TV Links above.

FORMULA E SEASON 12 CALENDAR

FIA WEC - Jacky Ickx – the second-most successful driver in terms of outright victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans – was granted a very special opportunity last week, as he took to the track at Circuit Paul Ricard behind the wheel of Genesis Magma Racing’s GMR-001 Hypercar.

Jacky Ickx won the 24 Hours of Le Mans on six times 1969 and 1982. The Belgian’s extraordinary record at La Sarthe went untouched for more than two decades, until Tom Kristensen surpassed him with a seventh triumph in the twice-round-the-clock contest in 2005.

Two-time Formula 1 World Championship runner-up Ickx has stayed close to the endurance racing scene since retiring from full-time competition in 1985, and now aged 81, he acts as an advisor and ambassador for Genesis’ FIA WEC program.

The team rewarded him for his input by inviting him to climb into the cockpit himself in southern France – representing his first on-track experience of a top-tier modern-day prototype – with the GMR-001 specially-liveried for the occasion to mirror his iconic helmet design.

Genesis Ickx

Jacky Ickx Has a Go in the GMR-001

Jack Ickx: It’s indescribable. When I opened that door, I saw something I didn’t expect at all. I discovered the Genesis Magma Racing Hypercar, but in a dark blue livery with a white stripe, which was incredibly emotional.

“I’m living the most important moment of my life I think, because I’m sharing my passion for motor racing with other people. The human aspect for me, wow – what the team offered me here was absolutely unique.

“You can dream, and dreams can come true – but I promise you I’m not going to race next year!”

The 94th 24 Hours of Le Mans is scheduled for June 13th – 14th. This year's honorary starter will be Tour de France cycling legend Sir Mark Cavendish.

IMSA WTSC - The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship is in the Motor City for this weekend's Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear.

IMSA races on the new downtown Detroit Street Circuit at the Chevrolet Detroit Sports Car Classic on Saturday, May 30th. The 4:00 PM race is on NBC. The 1.645-mile, nine-turn course is the shortest on the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship calendar, and a far cry in layout from the former Raceway on Belle Isle Park where IMSA previously competed.

One long straight anchors the track on Jefferson Ave., linked together by a series of predominately 90-degree left-hand turns (there’s only three right-handers – Turns 4, 6 and 9), with space at a premium and cars needing to pick the key moments where and when to go side-by-side. This downtown circuit was first raced on in 2023 by the Michelin Pilot Challenge in 2023, before the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship made its debut one year later.

Aston Martin’s Valkyrie hypercar returns to IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GTP class action as North America’s premier endurance series resumes in downtown Detroit this weekend. In the second and final of IMSA’s two 100-minute street races on the 11-round 2026 schedule, the works Aston Martin THOR Team prepared-and-run British hypercar, and its drivers Roman De Angelis and Ross Gunn face one of their toughest challenges of the season on the narrow, unforgiving 1.7-mile Detroit Street Circuit.

The nine-corner lay-out, positioned in the same region of the Michigan city’s original Formula 1 Grand Prix venue from the 1980s, is tight, twisty and consists of mainly 90° turns. These place a premium on stable braking over bumpy surfaces and strong traction out of corners; making it a tricky venue for all the competitors in IMSA’s top category which shares the event with the IMSA GTD PRO class this weekend.

Aston Martin IMSA Valkyrie

Aston Martin THOR Look to Improve on a 2025 Detroit P8

Nevertheless, THOR goes into the weekend on the crest of a wave, having recorded Valkyrie’s best FIA World Endurance Championship finish – fourth place at Spa-Francorchamp – earlier in the month. That result followed an inspiring performance in the previous IMSA round at Laguna Seca, where Valkyrie finished a mere eight seconds behind the winner in a tightly contested race. Moreover, Valkyrie’s pace at the previous street circuit, Long Beach, where it ran competitively in fourth place before being struck by a rival, gives the team belief that a strong result is achievable.

The competition variant of Valkyrie – the pure racing expression of the brand's roadgoing hypercar – is developed from its production sibling by Aston Martin and The Heart of Racing [THOR] and blends a race-optimized carbon fiber chassis with a modified 6.5-litre V12 powerplant that revs to 11,000rpm and produces over 1000bhp in standard form, but adheres to a strict 500kw (680bhp) power limit as per the WEC’s hypercar rulebook and IMSA’s GTP regulations.

The solitary V12-powered car entered in the Detroit Grand Prix, Valkyrie is also the only entry derived from a road-going hypercar competing in either IMSA or WEC.

Ross Gunn: “When I think about it, Detroit is probably one of the hardest tracks to drive a hypercar around, just simply because it is such a short layout and so twisty. With these big cars, it sometimes feels a little unnatural to race around here. But it’s still great fun, and a challenge, which is what all drivers yearn for. We’ve been growing in competitiveness all year, in all conditions, and we were strong at the last street circuit [Long Beach] that we raced on, so I believe we can surprise a few people this weekend. We’ll certainly be trying to, that’s for sure.”

The Chevrolet Detroit Sports Car Classic is on Saturday, May 30th at 4:00 PM Eastern with the broadcast on NBC.
