MOTOGP - The last race of three consecutive GP weekends takes place in Thailand this weekend.
Last weekend in Motegi, Jack Miller took a long overdue victory on the Ducati Lenovo Team Factory Panigale. His teammate Francesco Bagnaia threw it away on the last lap while battling with his championship rival Fabio Quartarato over eighth place.

Championship contender Aleix Espargaro also failed to score points in Japan. Aleix Espargaro pitted at the end of the sighting lap. Instead of starting from sixth, first of the title contenders, he was headed straight for the Aprilia Racing box to switch to his second RS-GP after seeing an alarm on his first bike. He finished 16th, more than six seconds away from the points.

Marc Marquez started from pole in Motegi, but his fitness level made it difficult for him, as his arm strength still isn't 100%. Still, he put in a valiant ride to finish just off the podium in P4. Brad Binder took second on the KTM, finishing 3.409 seconds behind Miller. Jorge Martin took the final podium spot on the Prima Pramac Racing Ducati.

Miguel Oliviera made it two Red Bull KTM Factory machines in the top five. Enea Bastianini had an off day, finishing P8. Quartararo’s World Championship lead has grown to 18 over Bagnaia, while Aleix Espargaro is another seven behind.

Jack Miller: "I can ride a motorcycle sometimes. [Laughs] I mean, I felt amazing all weekend, to be honest, since I rolled out in the first Free Practice. It feels so awesome to be back racing on this side of the world and the Japanese fans have been incredible all weekend, sitting there through the miserable rain yesterday. These guys are some of the best fans we have, so thank you to them, thank you to the team. What an amazing day. It’s awesome; we’ve got a home Grand Prix coming up shortly, wedding coming up in a couple of weeks, it’s amazing points. So, over the moon, can’t thank everybody enough.

"It was an emotional one that's for certain, as it always is with me, I don't know why. I was crying like a baby on the in lap. It was awesome, I didn't know I had that in me, it was amazing to lead from almost start to finish. When you're riding or racing like that, the biggest opponent you've got is the man inside your head - so I was just trying to not listen to him too much, and it was relatively easy to not listen to him today when the bike's working as well as it was, it was just a case of hitting my marks and not making any silly mistakes, which is quite easy to do here, to outbrake yourself or whatever - it can cost you a lot of time."

The series is right back at it this weekend for the OR Thailand Grand Prix. Let's visit Thailand during monsoon season! High heat and humidity will be paired with rain throughout the weekend, with the probability for precipitation only going below 90% on race day.

Danilo Petrucci, fresh from the final race of the MotoAmerica Superbike Championship, is in Thailand tapped to ride the GSX-RR Suzuki. He will stand in for Joan Mir, who continues to struggle with the right ankle injury he suffered at the Austrian GP in August.

Danilo Petrucci: “Needless to say, I’m so happy for the chance to race in Thailand with Team Suzuki Ecstar. I want to thank the Team for giving me this fantastic opportunity. I also want to thank Ducati and my current team management for letting me take this stand-in ride. I’m really curious to jump on the GSX-RR and try it, it looks very fast and we know it’s a winning machine. I’m also eager to work with the Suzuki crew, that I’ve known for a long time now and we have a wonderful relationship. I know it won’t be easy, so I’m not putting any expectations on the experience, I just want to enjoy it. I’m also excited to be one of the few riders in history jumping from a MotoGP machine to a Dakar bike, a Superbike, then another factory MotoGP bike!”

Today's Thursday press conference captured the mood of the title contenders. The first to talk was Fabio Quartararo: "Japan was a little bit of a frustrating race. Of course, I couldn’t make any overtakes. Our pace was quite good but we were really stuck. In this track, I think we can manage to get a great result in any case. Rain or dry, I think we can get a great result. Of course, the first and second sector is going to be tough for us, but I’m ready to fight for it."

Francesco Bagnaia: "Sector 1 for Ducati is good. We have just one corner and straight, so it’s a good sector. Sector 3 is our weak point. In 2019 we were losing a lot of time compared to Fabio and Fabio was the only fast one there. The new fairing will help us on that part of the track."

Aleix Espargaro: "I hope we can ride in the dry, but in any case, if it’s wet, I was quite fast in Japan. I was surprisingly fast in the rain, so even if it’s wet, it can also be a good opportunity because when there is a race in the rain, normally more strange things can happen, and we need it."

The OR Thailand Grand Prix is Sunday. Watch the race on CNBC at 1:30 PM ET.

The FIM MotoGP World Championship is heading to Kazakhstan in 2023. Next year marks the start of a new five-year deal that sees MotoG touch down in a new region of the world as the Sokol International Racetrack joins the calendar.

Located just outside Kazakhstan’s largest city, Almaty, Sokol is a brand-new Motorsport complex constructed in the heart of Central Asia. Kazakhstan will become the 30th country to host a motorcycle Grand Prix since 1949. The Sokol International Racetrack will be the 74th venue to host a premier class Grand Prix.
WORLDSBK - The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya hosted the Superbike World Championship last weekend. Spanish rider Alvaro Bautista made it a clean sweep in his home country, taking Saturday's Race 1, as well as the Superpole and Race 2 wins on Sunday.

Bautista completed a hat trick with the Race 2 victory, becoming the first WorldSBK rider with three wins in Barcelona. He finished the race with a 8.103 second gap over his teammate Michael Ruben Rinaldi.

Alvaro's victory extended his Championship lead to 59 points over Toprak Razgatlioglu. It was his first weekend sweep since 2019. Toprak Razgatlioglu took P3 in Race 2 on Sunday.

More success for Bautista on Sunday, beginning with the Tissot Superpole Race, where he got a great start and went from fifth place into the lead before Turn 1. From there, he was able to stretch his gap throughout the race to claim victory by more than a second ahead of Jonathan Rea.

In Saturday's Race 1, Alvaro Bautista took victory as he moved from fifth to first, Jonathan Rea battled from losing out at the start to take second while Toprak Razgatlioglu went from eighth to second at the start before dropping back to finish P5.

American rider Garrett Gerloff must have taken some motivation from his signing with BMW for 2023. He rode his Yamaha to a podium finish in Race 1 in Catalunya. His P3 from sixth place showed strong pace throughout the race to take his best result of 2022 and his first podium. It was Gerloff's sixth career podium and his first podium since Donington Park Race 2 in 2021, with a span of more than a year between podiums. It was also Yamaha’s 325th race on the WorldSBK podium.

Alvaro Bautista: “It seems like an easy weekend but, in reality, there was nothing easy. I’m so happy to have won three races here, especially because I think the competition is so high and even more difficult than three years ago. Saturday and Sunday, in the long race, I tried to manage the tires and keep the pace. I felt quite comfortable. Honestly, for the Superpole Race, we were missing something so, today, in the Warm Up we tried something different on the electronics to help me use the tire more and not worry about consumption. We tried, I liked it, so I used, and it definitely helped me a lot because it gave me a hand to use the tire more. I could be fast in the Superpole Race and fight for the win. For sure, it was closer than the other races but also, I expected more fighting, more battling for the victory.

There are four rounds remaining on the 2022 calendar, with the next round from Portimão on October 7th - 10th. According to the WorldSBK Press Office, if you want to see their race series, you can subscribe to SBK VIDEOPASS. NBC coverage has faded from view....
MOTOAMERICA - The 2022 MotoAmerica Medallia Superbike Championship came down to last weekend's last round of the season at the Superbikes at Alabama.

Jake Gagne laid down his intentions right away. After earning pole position in the morning with a new lap record, Gagne did what Gagne does in the race. He took off at the start and was never headed, flanked initially by his wingman on the Fresh N Lean Progressive Yamaha team Cameron Petersen and ultimately followed home by Westby Racing’s Mathew Scholtz.

At the end of 20 laps of the 2.38-mile Barber Motorsports Park, Gagne had his 12th win of the season and the 29th of his AMA Superbike career by 5.43 seconds over Scholtz. Scholtz had been on the move early, chasing Petersen until his fellow South African crashed on the sixth lap.

Gagne’s run to the championship was originally made easier with Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC’s Danilo Petrucci struggling with a fourth-place finish after being stung with a jump-start penalty of five seconds. The penalty, however, was later overturned on appeal by Petrucci’s team at roughly 6:30 PM, giving Petrucci third on the day.

While Gagne pocketed 25 points for winning, Petrucci earned 16 points for finishing third. That gave Gagne a 13-point advantage going into Sunday’s final race of the year.

On Sunday, Gagne finished second to his Fresh N Lean Progressive Yamaha Racing teammate Cameron Petersen and that earned him a second successive Superbike title. The runner-up finish on Sunday put a ribbon on Gagne’s season that featured 12 wins and 14 total podiums in 20 races.

The race went perfectly for the Fresh N Lean Progressive Yamaha Racing team as Petersen led Gagne for the duration, the pair flying in formation until Gagne backed it down in the final laps. Petersen took his second win of the season, his third career victory, and his first in dry conditions at his favorite track by 3.1 seconds over Gagne.

Two MotoAmerica Superbike Titles for Jake Gagne
Third place went to Tytlers Cycle Racing’s PJ Jacobsen with the New Yorker passing Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC’s Danilo Petrucci in the last corner on the last lap. It was a fitting finish for Jacobsen, who lost out on third in Saturday’s Race 1 when Petrucci’s jump-start penalty was reversed after the team’s appeal was upheld. Jacobsen beat Petrucci to the line by .206 of a second.

Jake Gagne: “Last year was cool winning all those races and taking home the championship, but this one feels good to bring it all the way down to the last race. It was just incredible. It was amazing being able to race with Danilo (Petrucci). That guy is a world-class racer. Like I said down there, I don't think there has ever been anybody that I wanted to beat more, just because of his resume. He’s a MotoGP guy, a MotoGP winner. I don't know how many of those we’ve had here in the States, so I wanted to do right and protect the home turf here and bring this MotoAmerica Championship home with an American.”

Alboreto: Gasoline in the Veins - The story about the man who grew up to realize his childhood dream of driving a Formula 1 car for Enzo Ferrari is now available once more in the United States.

Alboreto: Gasoline in the Veins is written by Michele Alboreto's brother Ermanno and details his early years and rise through the racing ranks.

It also tells about his character outside the car and that is the contribution that we are most proud to be associated with. It began with an interview during Michele's Indy car career and a request to use it in his life story. We also contributed interviews with his teammates and racing legends like Giacomo Agostini.

FORMULA 1 - This weekend Formula 1 returns to the Singapore Grand Prix for the first time since 2019. The McLaren Formula 1 Team have rolled out a special livery for this weekend's night race in Singapore and the next round in Japan.

The paint scheme focuses on Primary Partner OKX, which is a cryptocurrency exchange for retail and professional investors globally.

The special livery highlights McLaren’s Fluro Papaya color with neon pink embellishments and engine illustrations. The design represents the emergence of new technologies from the region, with a look to the future inspired by the cityscapes of Singapore and Japan

For the entire 2022 Singapore Grand Prix and 2022 Japanese Grand Prix race weekends, the Future Mode livery will be carried on both MCL36 F1 cars, and reflected on the race suits of McLaren F1 drivers Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo.

The 13th Singapore Grand Prix will once again be staged as a floodlit event. Marina Bay only has a couple of big braking zones, but with 23 corners, the brakes are still put through their paces. The lack of long straights and breaks between turns also put less air through the brakes for cooling, so the cooling ducts are as open as possible.

The Singapore GP is one of the most physically and mentally demanding races of the season, with intense humidity and warm temperatures, alongside being a stop/start track. Drivers can therefore lose around 6 pounds of weight during the race through sweating alone.

The stop/start nature of the track also impacts the tires because the surface temperatures can never properly cool down. The tarmac is also aggressive on the tires, increasing wear and degradation. The drivers will make an estimated 4,800 gear changes throughout the Grand Prix. Every single running of the Singapore Grand Prix has featured a Safety Car.

The bumpy and dusty nature of the circuit, mixed with its many corners and high tire degradation impacts race strategy. Despite the tire degradation, this is usually a one-stop race due to the difficulty in passing and the high pit-loss time. Sometimes, this race even hits the two-hour time-limit before the lap counter elapses.

The concrete used on the Esplanade Bridge is underpinned by steel beams which are magnetized. The magnetic fields are strong enough to interfere with certain sensors on the cars, requiring teams to replace a number of sensors with special versions, less susceptible to interference. Fitting magnetic shields to the gear shift valves has become a normal part of Singapore prep but it has previously caused cars to stop on track, particularly in the first years of running in Singapore.

Despite there being three DRS zones, this remains one of the toughest circuits upon which to overtake – just 44 per cent of passes are made with the system. Moves tend to be made at the start or on Safety Car restarts, with Turn 7 being the optimal place to make a move. Turns 1 and 5 are also key spots.

The lap record is 1:36.015 minutes, set by Lewis Hamilton in 2018. The fastest race lap so far - 1:41.905 minutes - was clocked by Kevin Magnussen in a Haas, also in the 2018 season.

On Sunday, Fernando Alonso is set to break Kimi Räikkönen's record for the most Grands Prix starts in Formula 1 history (350).

The Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix is on Sunday, October 2nd. Race coverage begins with Grand Prix Sunday at 6:30 AM Eastern on ESPN2.

WEC - Earlier today the FIA World Endurance Championship announced the 2023 season schedule. The season will feature the centenary edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, taking place in its traditional mid-June slot, as well as a new race in Portugal.

The eleventh season of the FIA World Endurance Championship will start with the Official Prologue at Sebring on March 11th and 12th, followed by the first race of the season, the 1000 Miles of Sebring on March 17th, as part of the “Super Sebring” weekend.

The first-ever 6 Hours of Portimão at Algarve International Circuit will take place on April 16th. This will be the second time that WEC has run at the track which previously held the 8 Hours of Portimão in 2021.

Just two weeks after Portimão, teams will reconvene for the TotalEnergies 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. This will be the eleventh running of the event which has been included in every season of FIA WEC and is seen as the event which gives the best form guide to the following 24 Hours of Le Mans.
WEC 2023 Calendar
The month of May enables teams to prepare for the big one, as teams head into a very busy June with the 91st edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, taking place in its traditional 24th week of the year slot on June 10th and 11th. This year’s race will be the centenary edition as the event first took place in 1923.

At Le Mans, manufacturers, Ferrari, Porsche, Peugeot, Toyota, Cadillac and Glickenhaus, will compete for the Centennial Trophy, created in association with the Monnaie de Paris and recently unveiled at the famous Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in California.

After Le Mans, FIA WEC moves to the 6 Hours of Monza which takes place on July 9th. This will be the third edition of the event which has already provided so much drama and excitement in its short history with FIA WEC.

September 10th will see the 6 Hours of Fuji, the tenth edition of this event at the iconic Japanese circuit with its super-long straight and ever-present threat of challenging weather conditions.

The season will once more conclude with the 8 Hours of Bahrain, on November 4th. Bahrain has been a part of the WEC calendar since 2012 and the 2023 event will be the eighth time the location hosts the season finale.

The 2022 FIA WEC season concludes wit the 8 Hours of Bahrain on November 12th.
IMSA WTSC - The 2022 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship wraps up with the Motul Petit Le Mans this weekend at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.

This will be the 25th time that cars have pounded around Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta at Motul Petit Le Mans. This weekend will provide the drama of championship battles in four of the five classes racing in the season finale at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. Champions won't be determined until the checkered flag waves after 10 hours of racing into the night.

There are 48 cars on the pre-event entry list, the most for the race in eight years. View the entries for MOTUL PETIT LE MANS.

In the final race of the DPi class, the championship-winning car will be an Acura ARX-05. It will either be the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing entry or the No. 60 Meyer Shank Racing with Curb-Agajanian Acura. WTR drivers Ricky Taylor and Filipe Albuquerque lead the MSR pair of Tom Blomqvist and Oliver Jarvis by 19 points heading into the final showdown.

Three-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Brendon Hartley joins the No. 10 Acura as the third driver for Petit, while four-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves fills the role for the No. 60 team.
Acura 1-2 Monterey

“It comes down to the drivers,” team owner Wayne Taylor said. “We don’t have to win the race; we just have to stay ahead of the (No.) 60. If you focus on winning the race, everything else goes out the window. The less you concentrate on beating the (No.) 60 car, the better off you’ll be. … I just think that it’s our race to lose.”

Helio Castroneves: “Petit Le Mans is a race that I have been searching for a win for so long. I finished second and third and now I’m missing that number one spot. I’m looking forward to being back with Tom and Oliver. Hopefully, together we can get that win and finish the season just like we started it - but this time with a championship too.”

In GTD PRO, the No. 9 Pfaff Motorsports Porsche claims the title simply by being on the starting grid in the seven-car class. The battle for second in class is between Antonio Garcia, Jordan Taylor and the No. 3 Corvette Racing Corvette C8.R GTD and Ben Barnicoat in the No. 14 Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3. Depending on how qualifying goes, it may well come down to whichever car finishes better on race day.

This will be the final race for both the Ferrari 488 GT3 and Porsche 911 GT3 type 991.2. In 2023 the Ferrari and Porsche stalwarts will be replaced by the Ferrari 296 GT3 and Porsche 911 GT3 type 992 models.

Today at Petit, there are three practice sessions for the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The highlight at Petit is always Thursday's night practice. Here are the results from FP1.

The Motul Petit Le Mans broadcast coverage begins Saturday at Noon Eastern on NBC until 3:00 PM Eastern. The broadcast coverage picks up on the USA Network at 7:00 PM. If you don't want to miss the middle four hours of the race, you'll have to pony up and pay the Peacock.
