Dear Sonora Families,

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season filled with joy, relaxation, and cherished moments with loved ones. As we turn the page to 2025 and begin the second semester tomorrow, Monday, January 6th, it’s a great time to reflect on the opportunities ahead. This semester is a fresh start for all of us—students, parents, and staff alike. Let’s embrace it with enthusiasm and a commitment to success.

To our students, I encourage you to start strong by showing up every day, on time, and ready to give your very best effort. Every day matters, and every class counts. By setting positive habits now, you’ll position yourself for success not just this semester but for the long term. Remember, you are capable of achieving great things with focus, determination, and support from your teachers, friends, and family.

This is also a big week for Sonora High School!

On Thursday, January 9th, at 6:00 PM, we are hosting our Open House. This special evening is our chance to welcome prospective students and families who are considering joining our Raider family. It’s an opportunity to highlight the incredible programs, opportunities, and community that make Sonora a place to belong, grow, and excel. From our academic pathways to athletics, arts, and extracurricular activities, we have so much to share. If you know families who are weighing their high school options, please invite them to attend. Together, we can show them why Sonora High School is a fantastic place to learn and thrive.

Finally, our winter sports teams are in full swing and entering league play in the highly competitive Century Conference. Our student-athletes have worked hard this season and are ready to represent Sonora with pride and determination. Whether it’s on the court, the mat, the field, or in the pool, our teams are showing what it means to be a Raider. We encourage you to attend their games and meets, cheer them on, and celebrate their hard work and dedication.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support of our school community. It’s going to be a fantastic semester, and I can’t wait to see what we’ll accomplish together. Let’s make it a great week back, and I look forward to seeing many of you at Open House and at our winter sports events.

With gratitude,

Steven A. Cazares

Principal, Sonora High School
