Dear Raider Families:

As we begin another week filled with learning, growth, and opportunity, we want to take a moment to shine a well-deserved spotlight on an extraordinary group of individuals whose impact reaches far beyond the scoreboard — our coaches.

National Coaches Day is a special opportunity to honor the men and women who devote countless hours to guiding, mentoring, and inspiring our student-athletes. Their work is often done behind the scenes, yet its effects are seen everywhere — in the perseverance of a student who refuses to give up, in the teamwork that turns a group into a family, and in the quiet confidence that carries young people into every area of their lives.

Coaches do far more than teach the fundamentals of a sport. They nurture growth, character, and leadership. They challenge students to push past limits, to value hard work and discipline, and to recognize that success is about more than winning — it’s about learning from every experience, supporting one another, and striving to be the best versions of ourselves. Their influence extends well beyond the playing field: they inspire leadership in the classroom, resilience in the face of challenges, and a sense of responsibility within our community.

Behind every practice, every game, and every season is a coach who shows up, committed to the success and well-being of their students. They celebrate the victories and help students learn from the defeats, all while modeling integrity, dedication, and compassion. It is through their example that many of our students learn the values that will guide them throughout their lives.

To every coach across our district — thank you. Thank you for believing in our students, for investing in their growth, and for shaping not just athletes, but leaders, scholars, and citizens. Your impact reaches far beyond the scoreboard and leaves a legacy that endures in the hearts and minds of every student you guide. Today, and every day, we celebrate and appreciate you.

Girls Tennis

Lost a couple of matches vs. Villa Park and La Habra. The bright spot is that Jessica Oh is on fire. She is undefeated, only losing one set so far this season. As a result, she is the Sonora HS Athlete of the Week.

Boys Water Polo

Won a big match on Tuesday vs. Sunny Hills 11-9.  Even more impressive, Duke Tanabe scored his 100th goal of the season.  This week the Raiders compete at El Modena on Wednesday to secure a spot in the CIF Playoffs.

Girls Volleyball

Celebrated our seniors on Thursday vs. Canyon. The girls battled but lost to the Comanches. This week the Lady Raiders travel to Yorba Linda to close out the regular season.

Girls Flag Football

Our ladies lost another tough one at Esperanza on Monday night.  We celebrated our Seniors on Wednesday afternoon and will wrap up league this week at Cypress.

Girls Golf

Our Ladies lost a tight match vs. Villa Park but came back and played a very close match vs Pacifica but lost 210-206.

The team was off this past week, but are getting stronger in preparation for the league finals at Yorba Regional Park

Football

Our Football team played a very tough El Toro team. They scored 21 points including touchdowns by Levi Santos, James DeRousse and Jeremiah Dempsey Frost Thursday night. It was our PINK out game to honor Breast Cancer awareness for the month of October.
