Dear Raider Families and Students,

I hope you are all excited as we move into Fall and another amazing week at Sonora High School! There's a lot happening on campus, and plenty of reasons to be proud of the Raider Family.

This past week, our leadership students had the incredible opportunity to attend the District’s Annual Leadership Symposium. This one-day event brought together ASB members from all schools in the district for a day focused on fun, connection, and leadership development. The goal was to help our students enhance their leadership skills and build a deeper sense of community—not just within Sonora High, but across the district as well. It was truly inspiring to witness our student leaders engage in fun dances, team-building activities, and collaborative discussions about how they can make a lasting impact on school culture.

These students are returning with renewed energy and fresh ideas on how to make our campus a more inclusive, vibrant, and supportive environment for all. Their enthusiasm is contagious, and I am confident that their leadership will play a critical role in shaping a positive atmosphere throughout the school year. We look forward to seeing the initiatives they bring to life in the coming months!

But leadership isn't just about student government—it’s also about teamwork, perseverance, and striving for excellence in everything we do. This week marks a pivotal point for our Fall sports teams, as they enter the thick of league play. Our athletes have been working hard, and their determination is shining through as they compete with their sights set on the CIF playoffs. Whether it’s our football team on Friday nights, our volleyball team rallying on the court, or our cross-country runners pushing the pace, each Raider student-athlete is giving their all. We are immensely proud of their efforts and the way they represent Sonora both on and off the field.

Now is the perfect time to rally behind our teams as they fight for championships! We encourage all students, parents, and members of the community to come out and support our athletes at their games and meets. Your presence and school spirit make a tremendous difference, boosting the energy of the players and showing our Raider pride. Check our athletics schedule for game times, and let’s pack the stands as we push toward a strong finish this season!

As we continue through the week, let’s also take a moment to appreciate the hard work and dedication of everyone at Sonora High—our students, teachers, staff, and families. Together, we make this school the special place that it is, and I am so proud to be part of such a vibrant and caring community.

Thank you for your continued support, and as always, let’s make this another great week to be a Raider!

Go Raiders!

Greetings Sonora Raider Families!

AP and IB exam testing registration is here! Please click the button below to access the order form. Students can pay for their exams at the activities window (checks payable to Sonora High School) or online through the web store (CLICK HERE). Only students enrolled in the specific classes take the exams, and your students will know if they have an exam to sign up for.  Our students and teachers have been working diligently to prepare for these exams, and we are very excited for them to be able to demonstrate their knowledge and skills. A down payment needs to be made no later than November 8th, 2024.

All of these exams are aligned with AP and IB classes and will take place in May 2025. We would ask that you encourage your student in this endeavor, and applaud their courage and tenacity in pursuing this challenge. If your child is not taking an AP or IB class this year, perhaps it is something that they could think about pursuing before they graduate. We have teachers who are committed to helping students pursue mastery in every discipline. As always, thank you for your support.

Please reach out to me if you have any specific questions.

Football: The Raiders were on the road as they traveled to Redlands East Valley for the last non-league contest of the season. We flexed our offensive muscles as we took home the win 65-42. It was a huge night for Olin Morales Hyder as he scored three touchdowns and helped to force turnovers on the defensive end. Next week we begin league play as we host Troy.

Girls Volleyball: Congratulations to our Lady Raider Volleyball team who finished the first round of North Hills league play undefeated. Not only are the girls undefeated in league, they have yet to lose a set. #6 Sophia Carlos and #22 Kyia Wood stepped into the starting lineup against El Modena, making significant contributions to the Lady Raider victory.

Girls Flag Football: After a slow start to North Hills League action, the Lady Raiders earned a much needed victory over Brea. The return of Anela Quinones from illness helped to spark the offense, scoring 38 points en route to the victory. The Lady Raiders are currently 1-2 in league play and are looking forward to the 2nd round of action.

Girls Tennis: Stella Seo had a great week in Girls Tennis. The Lady Raiders are an extremely young group. Stella has been a great mentor to the young athletes and leads the team in wins. Great job Stella!
